Mary H. In Long Beach...
I went out front of my house and looked up to see a bright yellowish red fireball with what looked like trails on the top and bottom. The only way I can describe it is if you took a rock and threw it but could see the wind disturbance. I was looking toward the beach with is south because I live in Long Beach, Ca. I think it was around 9:15. It actually looked like it burnt out for a second but then came back to life just for another second. CRAZY. I'm always seeing strange things in the sky over the Port. Oh...this "fireball" didn't make any sound.
Kendra S. In San Diego...
Me and two friends sitting on the patio in downtown San Diego witnessed what we thought was a shooting star, it was red orange and yellow with a cone shaped tail, it disappeared and then quickly reappeared. It happened at approx.931 pm. Amazing sighting!!!

UPDATE...07APR2011 Montana Fireball Bolide Captured On Radar...
Radar Data Suggests A Major Bolide Meteorite Fall Over Northern Rockies
by: ELPALLSKY 14APR2011...
Radar expert Dr. Marc Fries concludes that... "Either this event produced one hell of a fall, or we’re looking at debris from a de-orbited satellite."
MT 07 Apr 2011 0917 UTC
This event was, by all accounts, a spectacular fireball that most people missed because it occurred around 3am local time. The small number of eyewitnesses, to include an airline pilot at 38,000′, describe a long-lasting and relatively slow fireball. Two people report that it generated five separate...

From Thirteenth Street In Alexandria, Virginia...
While watching Jay Leno last night (11:45 – 12:00 midnight), I saw a green flash across the sky. We are located 10 miles south of Washington DC in Alexandria, Virginia, 3 blocks from the Potomac River. The arched streak went from East to West while looking out north facing windows. From the angle I was sitting, it could have been North to South.

The object/meteor looked quite large, and was a distinct shade of green with a small yellowish/orange tail. It didn’t look like the tail was directly behind it, more to the lower right, but that could also be due to the angle of view. There was no noise, and no airplanes or jets in the vicinity. Reagan National Airport is to the NorthEast of here, and planes can be heard every 5 minutes or so at that time of night.
From Jami S. Near Fredericksburg, VA...Hey there, I saw the fireball last night as I was leaving work. I work in south Stafford county, right off Route 17, minutes from I-95. I was walking northwest to my car and the object was moving from northeast to southwest. To me, it appeared to be heading towards the ground, so I stopped and listened for any kind of explosion or impact, LOL. It was VERY bright, the colors I saw were silver and white with a little green towards the tail. Kind of like a white hot. Reminded me of a 4th of July firework..but actually BIGGER and with absolutely no sound. It was truly awesome to see!

Possible Bright Meteor Fireball Illinois, Indiana 11APR2011...
From Anonymous In Monticello, (shafer lake)...
Indiana I too saw it. On Saturday night.I was standing around a fire with my neighbor Pete. While talking to him, I saw a large flash of light behind his head. I told him to look quick, but he missed it. It looked like a large burning ball. Moving very fast, I couldn't estimate the speed. It looked to be travelling South to North. Did not appear to be fragmenting and there was no sound. The area we were standing was very quiet. I can only guess the time to be between 11:30 and 12:00. Hope this helps ...It was very amazing!...FRED Brownstown, Illinois arrived from google.com on "elp allsky:" by searching for meteorites 2011 illinois.

Mike Sullivan Writes:
around 11:50(April 9th) I was outside having a smoke talking to a friend facing west, when a basketball size green fireball flew right over our neighberhood and it looked like it went out and down just over the neighborhood, never saw one so big and close....Immediately yelled to my friend who was faceing east and pointed to the sky(ooh look!), she turnedaround in time to also see it, at first he said she thought it was fireworks, but no I explained to her it fell from the sky...sh was excited about getting to see it,I have been searching for it but no luck, however when I took my dog to the park and bent down to tie my shoe I found what looks like meteorite I think it may be from the one which flew over the nighborhood because the projectile location was on target...had to be a 300 pounder when i saw it... Mike, please e-mail a picture of what you found...wxtx01@gmail.com Thanks!Maryville Illinois sighting
I was going for a drive and looked up at the sky to see what I thought was a shooting star but it was greenish and bright. It was about 10:30 pm saturday night aprill 9th 2011. That was the strangest thing I have ever seen in the sky.
My name is Billy H. From Maryville Illinois thank you!
Jeanne M.-NY State E-mail's...I saw it around 12:45AM on April 10th! Williamson, New York. Thought I was losing my mind - had been watching Doctor Who on Netflix all day and I happened to look up out the hal moon window in our bedroom (facing north) and saw a green light streak roughly NW. Woke my husband up and he told me to quit watching BBC sci-fi shows... :p It was amazing! thank you Jeanne!
Gregory Maza-Ontario Writes...I was driving from Stratford toward Kitchener, (Ontario, Canada) approaching to the intersection of the Highway #7 and Trussler Rd. when I saw that beautiful spectacle. In about 1.5 seconds a bolide on my front/left (North-East) went down in straight angle (or close to 90 degrees). I checked the time immediately, 12:47 am – April 10-2010. It had fragmentation at least two or three pieces before reach ground (I sure it landed). It was intense yellow, orange and some blue and left a persistent train for about another 1 or 2 seconds, yellow to white before disappear in grey. Apparent magnitude close to -11. As I said I was driving in a car on the highway (windows closed), so no sound could be heard. It was amazing! thank you Gregory...fine example of a good fireball report!
Elaine B Writes...Hi I saw it! I was beginning to think I was iminagining it until I found this..... Sometime during Saturday night live I was looking out my window and said to everyone "what the heck was that!" I saw a large green light shoot through the sky going from south to north. glad you saw it Elaine. your location please? thank you!
Georganna & Ariana Email...My daughter and I were traveling East on Hwy 56 near Vevay Indiana. When we witnessed a bright reddish orange fireball. The fireball was traveling North over or near the Ohio River in what appeared to be a downward arch. It was amazing. This occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thanks. thank you but is this possibly a typo? 4:30 p.m.?
First Response Ontario, Canada...Hi - my name's Darren Moore. I saw the same meteor tonight, about three hours ago, (approx). I was out for a bike ride, and quite honestly, had stopped in the large park I had been going through and went into the shadows away from the trail to 'take a leak'. While I was thus occupied, a bright green flash lit the area like daylight; I thought a spotlight had come on. I looked up immediately and saw a massive white ball traveling through the sky from SE to NW, right above my position. I am in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. There was no noise associated with it - at least, not above mild urban noise. The park is beside a bay and quite dark away from the lit trail. A few minutes later, a loud rumble was heard in the NW direction - the object had 'gone out' before leaving my field of vision in an otherwise clear sky. Hope this helps - I've been googling for a while; glad I found your post.
If you could, please share other's stories, should you get some. I imagine you will - it was phenomenally bright - brightest I've ever seen. Darren, great report! thank you as this helps alot!
Dominic and Shannon, Elkhart IN Write...My wife and i saw the meteor last night we were facing due west at 11:58 pm eastern time, it was a large bright white light with a green corona and left what looked like a debris trail when it was getting lower in the sky, it was traveling south to north. The most incredible and large meteor we have ever seen looked very large, we weren't even sure what it was until we found this site. Thought maybe we were the only people who saw it. thank you Dominic and Shannon!

Scottsdale az facing south.huge trail of fire, then burst into smaller pieces that continued to burn and circulate (like fireworks!) they kept falling to the ground. We thought a plane caught on fire and was breaking apart!
Email From Jeremy S. In Scottsdale, AZ...
I was taking a walk tonight in Scottsdale, Arizona around 8:48pm on 4/8/2011. I was walking south and I saw this fireball shoot through the sky directly in front of me heading southeast. The fireball to me did not look like a round object at all. It was more in the shape of a triangle. It then disappeared behind some large trees and as I ran to find it again, I saw firework like explosions off in the distance. When I first saw the fireball I thought it was a plane but the shape was so odd and moving much more quickly then a plane. I would describe the firework like explosions in the sky like fireflies in a jar!!!APreC8Life Writes...I saw several fireballs on April 8, 2011 @ 8:51 PM. From my home in Scottsdale, they seemed to be over the Tempe, Az area, From my usual viewpoint, that too is the flight pattern to/from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. I first saw one and wasn't sure what I was seeing. I continued to watch and saw several others. It was amazing. They actually looked like balls of fire with tail trails.

UPDATE...NASA Projects Debris Field for 06APR2011 Tennessee Fireball Bolide
NASA Meteoroid Environment Office-Marshall Space Flight Center-Huntsville...has released a map of the projected meteorite debris field/impact zone from the April 6th meteor fireball event over Tennessee.
NASA MEO Director Bill Cooke cautions "bear in mind that we lost track of the meteor fairly high up, before it underwent significant deceleration. Therefore this is a rough estimate only, pinpointing a general impact area".
NASA emphasizes that "hunters should respect the wishes of the property holders".

UPDATE...TENNESSEE FIREBALL DATA RELEASED BY NASA 07APR2011
Last night (April 6) at 8:21:57 CDT (9:21:57 EDT), NASA all-sky meteor cameras located at the University of Tennessee Space Institute (in conjunction with the Hands-On Science Center in Tullahoma, Tennessee) and at the Walker County Science Center in northwest Georgia detected a very bright fireball moving north across the state of Tennessee. First detected 52 miles above the Arnold Air Force base near Tullahoma, the meteor was brighter than crescent Moon and was approximately 2 feet in diameter, with a weight of 200 lbs. It was last recorded 30 miles above the town of Woodbury, Tennessee, moving at a speed of approximately 9 miles per second (32,400 mph).
The NASA Meteoroid Environment Office has reasonable confidence that some fraction of this meteor survived to the ground as one or more meteorites. Calculations are underway to determine the general impact location, which may lie close to the Kentucky border. Eyewitnesses to the fireball are encourage to make a report to the American Meteor Society (www.amsmeteors.com) or to the Meteoroid Environment Office.
More information will be forthcoming at the completion of the impact zone calculations, which may take some time. The orbit indicates that this interloper was from the Asteroid Belt, with an aphelion well beyond the orbit of Mars.
Note: A 3rd NASA camera, located at the Tellus Science Center in Cartersville, Georgia, also recorded this event low on the northern horizon. This data is being used to refine the trajectory determination.

Email from Bill Butler NE Alabama...
I am a fifty eight year old man who lives on Keel Mountain (Jackson County)
in Northeast Alabama. Sometime around 8:30 last night I took my dog out for
her nightly walk and in the east northeast horizon I saw a large extremely
bright light that had a rather short very bright tail. As soon as I saw it
and because of its size and brightness I thought it was either a meteorite
or large space junk. Bill Butler

E-mail From Sue F. in South Carolina...Last evening my friend and I were travelling home from the beach. We were traveling on I26 from Columbia, heading toward Greenville. We both were so delighted that we were seeing a shooting star. However, it did not fizzle-out like usual. The fireball did not seem to diminish in size and did not fizzle. It appeared to fall to the earth. We lost sight of it behind the trees. We wondered if it was actually a plane, but did not see any sign of an explosion on impact. thanks sue!
United States arrived from google.com on "elp allsky" by searching for saw something in th sky tonight over clarksville tn 7;15pm .-- 19:45:59 -- 28 minutes agoE-mail From Rosie M.-Swansboro, NC...I was sitting on the dock facing ESE (Cassiopeia behind me) at about 9:30 Friday night and saw the biggest, brightest meteor I've ever seen (and I see a lot of them out here in this low light pollution, coastal area). It arced across the sky from right to left over 100 degrees of my field of vision, for about 8 seconds, with a clear, rounded orange leading edge and long white smoke trail. I could see the complete round shape on the back edge, visible even through the tail. I've never seen anything like it! Spectacular!
thank you Rosie! Otis Redding would be proud :-)

Cathy In Traveler's Rest, SC Email's...April 6, 2011: At about 9:20 pm EDT my daughter observed a very large white light falling straight to the ground over Travelers Rest, SC in the southern direction. At first, she thought it was an airplane because it was so large! At the exact same time, a relative in TN posted to Facebook that she saw a large meteor. Same one?! looks like it Cathy...thank you for this important report!

Alberta, Canada E-mail...My name is Steven Rothweiler and last night around 10 P.M a friend and I witnessed a falling star while heading north off Stony Plain. I noticed your site asked for other sightings, I hope this had helped. thank you Steven
Jon M. In Polson, MT Writes...I was indoors with the TV on, and still saw the meteor. I wish it wasn't cloudy, but it went in and out of view 4or 5 times. It was awesome. Incredible fragmentation, large pieces that had there own trains. It was a glowing train with parts breaking off. There were some clouds so my line of sight was a little broken up thanks Jon!
