Side Note...SJ Sharks had just lost the 2nd period
Orange/White fireball moving east to west, crossed almost directly overhead,
perhaps 1 degree further north. Covered visible arc distance in about 4
seconds.
Long tail, orange in color, fairly low in the sky. Lots of air traffic at
the time as well.
My GPS coords are 37.35501 - 121.98667, 56ft altitude. No large buildings
or other obstructions, single story homes for a few square miles.

At just-past-6 pm local (maybe 6:08), I was driving into my neighborhood (eastward) and saw a bright bluish-white trail begin on the sky from left to right (north to south). It at first appeared to me to be the flame from the engine of a single-engine military fighter aircraft but then as it elongated, I realized it was something coming in to the earth's atmospheres. It began to break apart, I assume, as I saw a few bits come away and quickly disintegrate. Finally as it reached the right side of my windshield it fizzled out. In the early evening of november 30th, I saw a long, white streak with blue tinges on the edges, about 1/4 of the sky long. The head looked like magnesium burning, blueish green light, as large as the moon in 1/2 wax. northern california near willow creek.

I saw an orange fireball in the sky tonight. It appeared very close to the earth. It appeared to be going at a very slow rate, like someone parachuting out of a plane. I say appeared because I was amazed to see it so close up. However It couldn't have been as close as I thought. It burnt up before reaching the ground. I stopped my car to look at it in amazement! Meteor was traveling straight down towards the horizon from my perspective, first noticed 10 or 15 degrees above horizon. Not certain what it was. Only visible for a few seconds. Thanks for the heads up Steve!

On Monday Nov. 21 I saw a Large fireball falling towards the north in Mission Viejo Ca (4 mi away from Ranch Santa Marguerita) . This fireball was approximately 10 sec or more, it was low flying and proportionate to the size of an average microwave with an easily 6 ft long tale, I immediately rushed home and checked the web for any news of it; but could not find anything; then on Thursday Nov 24 I saw another in the same flight pattern in which the first one was seen, just smaller and at a higher altitude. is there any correlation to all of the fireballs being seen around here in the last week? Thank you Ataya! We are currently between significant meteor showers. Could have been stragglers from the Leonids or pre-peak meteors from the upcoming December Geminids.

Hello,
Last night at approx 10:30pm while driving east on the San Mateo
bridge my wife and I spotted an incredibly bright, and incredibly FAST,
aerial moving object. It started mid way through the sky, and flew
from west to east (so straight down from our vantage point). It had a
slight blue-ish color, but it was hard to tell since we saw it through
some cloud cover. Yet, even with the clouds, it was very obvious given
it's brightness and speed. No idea what it was. It appeared to be coming
straight down out of the sky.

I was driving North on Boulder Hwy at around 10:30p.m. PST when we saw the comet/asteroid. We saw it drop down on the horizon and were both in shock for like 10 seconds. He's 63 and I'm 19 and neither of us have ever seen anything like it before. It was in our North sky. What adds to the mystery is that where it fell is the EXACT direction of Area 51. Boulder Hwy runs Northwest and Southeast.

My granddaughter and I were on our way home from an Oak Hills High School football game a little after 10 pm Friday , October 14, 2011 when we spotted the fireball. I slowed down to view and we were speechless as we watched it. It appeared to me to be bluish green and she said green. It was a ball with a trail falling down then appeared to slow down then fizzled downward until no longer in site. We were traveling north on Third Ave in Hesperia, California between Ranchero Rd and Main St. We didn't hear or read about it in the news.

I spotted the green bluish light last night around maybe 10:20 pm. The location was Sacramento,CA. It happened in the south- east part of the city. I was on Gerber Way going towards matter field. the light seemed to look like a comet with a bluish greenish colored tail. it was really fast and crossed from the top right corner of my windshield and seem to of fallen behind some houses on the far left.(though i really don't think that it had fallen so close since there was no boom! noise or nothing, seemed more like an optical illusion)
i have never seen something like this so if any one knows what it might be please post!

I saw a slow moving (faster than a low flying airplane) bright white fireball at about 9:25 PM 9/28/2011. It was less than 30 degrees above the horizon (tho I was on a hill) larger than a BB but smaller than a pencil eraser. I was facing east and it traveled parallel to the horizon south to north without sound. Just as it passed the tree line to the northeast it was bright enough to illuminate the nearby trees. Hey there! Please bear with me, this is my first time seeing and reporting anything like this.
Was at home watch TV with adult daughter.Large (4'x10') front window was open, we both saw a bright blue light flash. The light flashed once brightly, then 2 times faster and not quite as bright (but still freakishly bright). We jumped up-a bit freaked out- and went outside.We didn't hear anything odd.We didn't smell anything odd and none of our neighbors came outside.Our front window faces west.The flash of light seemed to happen kind of north-west.My daughter likened it to a "giant playing with an LED flashlight"

No sounds and saw no streaks etc. Was smaller than a pencil eraser on the horizon. I was walking due east and the fireball arced downward from right to left about half way above the horizon at about 10 o'clock to my reckoning. It had a fiery head - I thought I saw flames - and a long tail. A passenger plane cruising northeast at about 30k feet passed by at the same time in the same quadrant of the sky. hello there, while walking my dogs somewhere in between 7-8pm, i caught the last couple seconds of a trail of fire in the sky. i was heading east and turned north when i saw the tail flicker out. the trail was shooting towards the north. it sounds like i had about the same view as daniel in upland :) i thought it was fireworks until i noticed that the trail had a arc to it and it was moving too quickly. my first fireball/shooting star/meteor (?) sighting in california!

This is the meteor fireball I witnessed last night when I was driving on Prescott Lakes Parkway to the south between Willow Lake Road and State Route 89 in Prescott, Arizona. It was 7:45 PM. The green glow was flying across my field of vision almost horizontally from west to east. It lasted for about 10 seconds before it went down behind a mountain. It was so huge that I thought it was a falling aircraft at first! I have never seen such a huge meteorite flying for such long duration.

I saw it for about 3 or 4 seconds before it went behind the horizon. I didn't hear any sounds.

I was leaving work around 7:47 pm driving south from Coronado island and saw a huge fireball heading what seemed to be straight down. It was bright orange and yellow at first, then turned to a darker more red color. It broke off into pieces at what looked like about a mile up and diminished over southern San Diego. It looked like it was right over 32nd street naval base. Didn't hear any noise or any accompanying booms.
Christina E.-Unknown Location:I was heading east on Santa Fe towards El Camino Real tonight at around 745p tonight and saw the most amazing fireball falling from the sky south west of where I was driving towards Manchester in the canyons behind Crest, probably appeared closer than it was so could have been further south. In any case it was a glowing green-blue fire ball trailed by orange-red gaseous tail heading down towards the ground. The most magnificent gift I could have ever seen. I feel so blessed to have witnessed this.
About 15min later 5 police cars were racing thru Encinitas & El Camino blvd. Three turned west on Encinitas an 2 drove straight thru towards Manchester heading south. Curious if they were looking for the fireball as this one certainly hit ground somewhere.

We were in Chino Hills at the Costco facing South and it looked like it was dropping to the ground from west to east. We lost sight of it behind Costco. My husband was the one who first spotted it and he said it lasted several seconds. When I saw it it looked like it had a green tail on each side but he said that when he first spotted it, it only had one green tail and then broke into two. I'm really curious about what this is.
Unnamed Reporter-Irvine, CA:My husband and I witness this in Irvine, Ca on 9/14 around 7:50pm. It lasted for about 30 seconds and for what my husband it was greenish/bluish. I was lucky enough to see the end of it which looked like the ending of a shooting star (white tail). We were amazed at how long it lasted. We almost anticipated a loud explosion after it ended.
Do we know why this is happening more frequently? By reading others reports on here it seems as if we are waiting for something big.

Flashing green light in the sky when I put my dog out at 11:30 p.m.. It ran from north to south, which isn't really a plane status over our house. When I had the flashlight out to watch our dog, I shined it up there, it was gone. Strange....
It was a bright green light -- flashed and then gone. I tried to follow it with the flashlight and it was gone, just like that! I live in se twin cities, and the direction was slightly southwest of me, and traveling south.
I'm wondering if there were report of that? Wierd to see the green meteor if that is what it was.

Nyle-San Diego, CA:I was browsing your site and thought I'd lend my short description of the event.
I was driving down I-5 south, just around Old Town/India St. at about 7:45pm when I saw what I initially thought was a missile descending from the east.
At first it was a bright teal surrounded by a burning orange-yellow. The orange-yellow faded shortly, leaving the teal fireball which slowly got smaller and smaller as it got closer and cloers.
It was great to see. I hope this helps.
Steve W.-Las Vegas, NV: I'm was driving on Rainbow Blvd headed south just past Russell Rd.. I saw a what I thought was a firework at first, but at second glance noticed that it seemed low traveling fast across the sky with minimal decent.. It resembled a meteor.. But it was an orange glowing ball with a green flare type tail.. It really reminded me of the green copper flame.. Some torch lighters have a little copper ball suspended in the middle of where the flame from the lighter comes out and the copper turns the flame green.. That's exactly what it looks like.. As if it were a large copper meteor..

Anonymous Reporter-San Clemente, CA:I was in San Clemente CA just entering San Diego County on the Pacific Coast highway heading south when I saw a meteor at about 7:42 pm local time. It was south at about 40 degrees elevation moving from west to east. It began as a red orange streak with a long tail moving slowly, but as time went on a green ball formed at the head. After about 5 or 6 seconds it flamed out and disappeared. My wife also saw it and she thought it might have been a flare, but we soon began to hear radio news reports that it was seen all over Southern California.

I saw the green fireball last night and what really gets me is a friend of mine is telling me that NASA said it was space junk and landed in california. Im in Phoenix, and it was moving in a straight line West to East so how is that possible. NOT! It was very low and very clear and looked like a sideways moving firework because it was so intensely green but what really made it odd was the perfect straight line it moved in. Not even a bit at an angle like it was heading down. I saw the videos and they were way far away, what I saw looked very close, and bright and low in the sky.

ok my friend in Lake Havasu seen it also and they also said they have never seen one that big and those colors,, anyone have any idea what else it could have been?? i trucked for 18 years, mostly nights, seen a gazillion showers but never anything like that..

Standing outside in FRESNO, CA, USA while looking toward the "Big Dipper" I saw a bright cherry red (like hot steel in a forge) fireball which came from the south, i.e. over my head, and burned out approximately 45 degrees above the horizon at approximately 2120 hrs, PDT. The object was quite large, i.e. 10-15 star diameters, and moving relatively slowly (when comparted to my rememberances of the usual summer meteor. What might have it been? J>D>

It was bright enough to illuminate the early morning fog lined sky in a shade of yellow, pink and blue. Seconds later, another sequence appeared, both lasting as long as a few lightning blasts. I live north of long beach and I'm no stranger to industrial light, but this was brighter, more concentrated than ive ever seen, and in colors I can't explain...so there you go.

Hi, I live in Monrovia in the San Gabriel Valley northeast of the Los Angeles metro area. Today walking home I saw a fireball headed due west at approximately 7:30 pm. It was very large, and my first thought was the shuttle landing, or some space station debris. It had a long tail like a comet with a very distinct head, but I really couldn't tell how fast it was traveling because I only saw it through the trees. I think it was pretty fast because when I put the groceries away and came back outside, it was gone. I saw it at less than 45 deg from the horizon, so I missed most of it. Any info would be appreciated, I hope it wasn't important space debris. Hope this helps.

As my family and I were driving last night on California I-5 north towards the Antelope Valley Freeway I-14 @ around 10:30 pm. We saw a huge bright green streak of light with a white tail almost like a shooting star but bigger! It was on our right hand side. I believe it was headed East to West or North to North West it was a little hard to tell on the freeway.Still don’t know what it was but it scared the Sh** out of us. Just wondering if anyone else saw the same thing and if anyone knows what it was.

My buddy and i were camping along highway 1 near Jenner on sunday night. It was a nice night, no light pollution. Could see the big dipper in the North West and Milkyway up above.
Saw a few falling stars , then was staring at the ground when i say all the ground around me light up, my friend grabbed me, I looked up and say the trail or a HUGE comet. Lookes like the end of a meteor that was burning up as it entered the atmosphere. I was so big and long, i saw the bight yellow orange light fade away and saw the smokey comet trail. It was shooting from North and ended south.A good two seconds long. I could hear it fizzing burning. Incredible!!! My friend and i couldn't get over it.
Before the huge on, I remember seeing a smaller on about 20min before that lit up the sky. This was on Very late at night August 7th. didnt have a watch on.
Longest falling (shooting star) i have ever seen!!!!
This was 1 mile south of Jenner in California at the mouth of the Russian River Incredible Max...Three in one day for CAL!Thank you!

I witnessed a HUGE white fire ball from the south sky toward north @ a down ward angle. At first I thought it was a large airline plane afire,however,our near by John Wayne Airport here in Orange County CA has their flight pattern from the west sky toward the east.This HUGE ball of white fire was angled @ an approx 20 degree downward angle.Before it "went out" I saw a large particle fall behind it then the entire HUGE fire ball went out.It looked approx a 20th size of a full moon.What was this? likely a fragmenting meteor called a "bolide". I live out in the back country of San Diego. Its near Ramona called San Diego Country Estates. I was looking out the window, westward and saw the same white ball falling from the sky. My first thought was this is the largest falling star I have ever seen. I was thinking of my girlfriend that died last August at the exact time it fell from the sky. Hi, I live in central california, the citrus belt of ca. On tuesday july 12, 2011, my husband, myself and two children were returning home from spraying weeds at one of oyr ranches. It was about 9:15 pm, I looked out of the window and saw this huge red fireball slowly falling, it was already in our airspace, I told my husand to look, my children did as well, we were all in awe as to what it was. It was huge, definately way too large to be flare gun or firework gone bad, we continued t ok watch,i told my husband to stop so I could take picture, but by time we stopped it was just above tree line of orange tree at top. It was huge and fell in a north easterly direction, so we got home about two mins later, my son and I went looking to see if it crashed somewhere. Yes it was very close. We are farming communities out here, about 15 mins later, isaw three planes flying around and a helicopter with its search lite towards the ground looking. While driving around my son and I noticed people outside looking up, driving around. You got to help us out here was it a meteor. We still keep thinking about this event. Kellie R.

~430 am, moonless. LARGE meteor falling nearly perpendicular to earth in the NNW sky. The "tail" of the meteor was far wider than any I had ever seen and glowed for a long time after the meteor had passed. Light emission appeared bluish white. Spectacular! thank you Mrs. L.!
