ELPALLSKY ALERT...Meteors With A Side Of Aurorae Borealis 03 & 04JUN2011

Report And FITS Inquiries From Missouri Indicate Possible Celestial Show On Tap For Mainly Northern Latitudes...

From ELPALLSKY 04JUN2011:
Northern latitude skywatchers may be in for quite the celestial treat over the next couple nights. In a "Chatbox" report, a Missouri couple tells ELPALLSKY they witnessed a bright meteor in conjunction with what they believe to be Northern Lights the night of June 3rd 2011....

From Jessica and Jeremy-Southwest Missouri:
Jun 3 2011, 10:21 PM Guest113 (guest): My husband and I saw (in MO) a thick blue and green light slowly move across the sky, then it stayed there for several seconds.. long enough for me to tell my husband to look up and see it for himself. Also my husband saw a similar light move around a star in a circular pattern several minutes before we saw the long streak of light... however, this one I did not get to see myself. This all happened at 23:00CST

According to NASA's SPACEWEATHER.COM a solar wind stream is buffeting Earth's ionosphere and is producing Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), and will likely do so for the next couple nights. With recently elevated fireball sightings being reported to fireball monitoring websites, the opportunity to see both simultaneously remains good. Check back with ELPALLSKY periodically for updates...and as always, if you see a fireball, especially if you catch one while photographing Northern Lights, please share with others who may see the same thing by emailing pics/videos to wxtx01@gmail.com Thank you and enjoy!
