Hey there! Please bear with me, this is my first time seeing and reporting anything like this.
Was at home watch TV with adult daughter.Large (4'x10') front window was open, we both saw a bright blue light flash. The light flashed once brightly, then 2 times faster and not quite as bright (but still freakishly bright). We jumped up-a bit freaked out- and went outside. We didn't hear anything odd.We didn't smell anything odd and none of our neighbors came outside. Our front window faces west. The flash of light seemed to happen kind of north-west.My daughter likened it to a "giant playing with an LED flashlight"
hope this helps

Jodi W.-Morongo Valley, CA 7:20 P.M. PDT:
I saw a Very bright white/blue object with what seemed to be a red center dropping from right to left behind the hills of our valley out of view.  I was facing North to Northwest. No sounds and saw no streaks etc. Was smaller than a pencil eraser on the horizon. When I spotted it, it was only visible for a few seconds - about two to three inches above the horizon.     thank you Jodi!  Other eyewitness? e-mailto wxtx01@gmail.com

UARS Journey Comes To An End 23SEP2011

NASA's Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, or UARS, Likely No More

Update #15Sat, 24 Sep 2011 01:46:42 AM MDT
NASA’s decommissioned Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite fell back to Earth between 11:23 p.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 23 and 1:09 a.m. EDT Sept. 24. The Joint Space Operations Center at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California said the satellite penetrated the atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean. The precise re-entry time and location are not yet known with certainty.

LAST SIGHTINGS OF UARS? Observers in central Texas saw UARS streaking overhead (but not disintegrating) at 8:18 PM CDT on Sept. 23rd. It was spotted again over western Colorado at ~9:46 pm CDT ("Still intact, but tumbling," says observer Scott Sheriff) and again over Minnesota at 9:55 pm CDT. Since then, however, no observers have reported seeing the doomed satellite. NASA's estimated window for re-entry (between 11:45 p.m. Sept. 23 and 12:45 a.m. Sept. 24 EDT) has passed, so UARS might be no more.

I was driving last night heading north on I35 in Dallas Texas and i saw a fireball to the west of me in the sky it was large and low, heading North at a very fast speed, i have no idea what it was and it didnt look like a comet because it didnt have as long of a tail, it was a strong orange reddish color... i seen it at 1:30 AM....What was it, please email me at (email on file) and let me know what i have seen.

Gregg S.Cristian County, MO:My brother and I experienced something which may be related to the TX fireball. Last night we were camping out in an area of southern Christian County Missouri miles from any towns or cities. On September 23, 2011 at approximately 10:30 p.m. CDT we saw repeated bright flashes of light in the night sky and heard what sounded like sonic booms repeatedly for approximately 5 or 10 minutes. The flashes seemed to come from over the horizon and were not viewed directly. They were bright white light and seemed to strobe somewhat. It appeared to be orignating from an area directly north of our location. We first suspected that a fireworks display was occuring in or near the town of Ozark, Missouri but we discounted that explanation because we were many miles south of Ozark and likely wouldn't see or hear fireworks from such a distance. We also considered whether it might be the NASA UARS satellite reentering earths atmosphere. It was quite a unique experience. I questioned others about the event and was told that a friend's child experienced the same event along with a group of other highschool students while attending an outdoor highschool function in Springfield, MO. Please feel free to contact me with any follow-up questions.

Meteor Fireball Activity Is Increasing As Predicted By ELPALLSKY Due To NEO Close Approach Today 22 SEP2011

click on image to enlarge-image courtesy and (c) 2011 NASA-JPL
Above is a graphical illustration of the orbit analysis of Asteroid 2007 TD which is currently passing within 6.2 LD (Lunar distances) of Planet Earth. This object was shoved close to Earth's orbital plane from collision with another asteroid within the Asteroid Belt. It stands to reason that debris from that collision is accompanying the asteroid, some of which is apparently making it into Earth's atmosphere and in turn, producing an increase in meteor fireball activity. Be prepared for additional fireball activity over the next day or two as 2007 TD passes close by.

Breaking Meteor Fireball News...South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska Daylight Fireball Reported To ELPALLSKY 22SEP2011

ADDITIONAL REPORTS NEEDED ON THIS DAYLIGHT EVENT !!!

Email From:
Stan B.-Minot, ND:
At approx 4:30 PM this afternoon, a fireball/meteor fell straight down east or northeast of Minot, ND, at least from my position it went straight down. I was 2-2 1/2 miles north of the Glenburn corner on highway 83 this afternoon when this ‘meteor’ fell to the south southeast of my position, maybe to the east 10 degrees of due south. If it would have been at night I believe it would have brightened up the sky and the ground for miles around the impact. Stan B.

Zana M.-Spearfish, SD:
At about 3:20 PM MST Today 9/21/11 I saw what appeared to be a green blaze shooting down across the sky. Out of the NE. It looked relitively close. Seemed as if it would crash some where near...although it was probably a million miles away! I have never seen something like that. It was a vivid neon green. Only lasted a few seconds. Very weird. Kind of eerie in a way. What was that?

Brandon M.-Broken Bow, NE:
Daytime Meteor:
Witnessed Bright Green/White Meteor Tail at 4:27PM CDT.
Sighted from 10 Miles North of Broken Bow, NE.
Sighted about 30 degrees above the horizon facing north
10-15 deg west from true north
Object was on a NNW trajectory

Paul A.-Unknown Location:
I was driving West yesterday Sept 22,2011 about 4:30 pm CDT when I saw a bright greenish fireball (falling star) in the Western sky..right above the road. Looked as though it would fall on the road but burned out before it got all the way down. Lasted only a moment. Unusual for daytime to see things like that.
P. Monaco-Alliance, NE:
Was driving south of Alliance, NE about 3:30pm on 9/22/11 and witnessed a bright green object (fireball) with large tail coming from a NE direction which broke up before hitting the ground.  Was very bright for this time of day.

Anonymous Reporter:
At about 425 pm I was driving south on highway 83 at about mile marker 99 (north of Bismarck) and I saw a large bright meteor type object falling very fast., it was a little off to the right of what would otherwise have been straight ahead of me. (I figure it to be at about 00:30 from the highway if the highway in front of me was considered 12:00) I heard on KFYR radio that a several people from around the state saw it. I wish I would have had time to take a picture. It seemed kind of odd because it was so very visible in broad daylight. It happened so fast I did not even have time to pull over or even so much as slow down my car. It was falling straight down with a significant bright tail. The burning head was much thicker than the tail. It must be deceiving as to how far away it was because it looked kind of close to me. Other witnesses said on the radio that they thought it was as far away as South Dakota. It was really odd. I did actually say out loud “whoa baby” as I continued to drive in the general direction of where I thought the meteor like object had likely impacted. I actually thought I would see a related fire on the side of the road. At that moment I thought there was a slight possibility of seeing a related mushroom cloud, or experience a related blast of shock wave air. Oh well. It was kind of an interesting moment.

Meteor Fireball News...Washington, Oregon Bright Green Meteor Fireball 21SEP2011

Email From:
Heather R.-Gresham, OR:
I saw a green fireball from Gresham. It was in the SW sky. Very large, very bright, very cool!

Terrie G.-Hillsboro, OR:
As I was walking back to my house after taking the garbage can to the street, a flash caught my eye and I saw a large fuzzy green sphere falling from the S.E. low on the horizon, toward the S.W. I didn't think anything of it, until I saw the report on the 11 o clock news.....Best spectacular heavenly event since I saw a fabulous meteor shower 20 yrs ago..and the total eclipse of the sun in the late 70s!

Laura A.-Oswego, OR:
Hello! Both my husband and I witnessed a green fireball moving from east to west tonight around 8:15.  We live in Lake Oswego, OR and were looking south out of a 3rd story window. We were watching TV but this was bright enough to catch both of our eyes!  It was almost an emerald green and did not appear to have a tail when we saw it.  Significantly larger in size that other meteors we have seen while camping or in the wilderness.  Thanks!

Dan P.-Eugene, OR:
I saw the fireball in Eugene Oregon. I first saw it due south and pretty high up, about 60 to 70 degrees. I'm sure of this because I was on my balcony with fixed landmarks to estimate where it was. It moved west by northwest, about 280 degrees, and flared up very bright green before disappearing to the west about 30 degrees up. The green flare seemed about moon-size, though it was hard to tell. At any rate it was either very big or at low altitude, and hella bright. No one else in my neighborhood seemed to notice it. I saw no obvious breakup of the object and heard no sound. The most remarkable feature was the bright green color. I didn't think to look to the clock till somewhat later, so it was about 8:20pm, plus or minus 10 minutes.

Brent R.-Portland, OR:
Hi-  I saw the "fireball" and would love to find out what it was.  It was just after 8pm and I was in NE Portland facing the SW.  I've done a lot of star-gazing and have never seen anything like this.  From what I remember it moved much slower than an average meteor and was way bigger.  Looked about the size of a basketball and close, but obviously I have no clue how far away it was.  It was a white-yellow and didn't seem to move in a straight line.
brent

Jeff V.R,-Portland, OR:
Last night I saw a bright green fireball at about 8:20pm dropping at a steep angle to the SW. It was much slower than any meteors I have seen before. It appeared from the west hills of Portland to be headed directly towards Hillsboro. It was cloudy and so it appeared to be close. Best I have ever seen.

Lisa F.-Portland, OR:
I saw the green fireball last night around 8:15 or so from SE Portland facing towards the SW, it was bright green and looked a little like a huge flare.
Lisa, Portland OR

Sean-Neskowin, OR:
Sept. 21, 2011, approximately 8:20 PM, Neskowin, Oregon
Hi, Me and my family were driving about a mile north of Neskowin, Oregon, when we saw a green object flying east to west. It was rather bright and had little pieces falling off of it, and I saw a little red object close behind flying up to meet it. We saw it through a break in the clouds for a few seconds. Its trajectory was slightly curved downwards, but it flew straight west.-Sean

Craig La F.-Eugene, OR:
I was on the Amazon running trail in Eugene, Oregon 9/20/11 going north when I saw a fireball to the west. I only saw it for a second or two until it dropped behind the trees. My watch said 8:11pm. To me it appeared to be yellow, pretty round and very bright, close in apparent size to a street lamp I was near passing. Didn't know whether it was close or far, but I found a person in the bleachers at a softball game several blocks away who saw it, and as we both saw it in the same direction, we figured it was not near.

Demaris W.-Bend, OR:
My husband and I saw the fireball along with two of our dinner guests. We were having dinner, outside, here at our home, in Bend, Oregon. I was facing west towards the Cascade mountains. The fireball appeared to be about a quarter of a mile away in line with Broken Top mountain. It did not look green to me. It appeared to be quite large, white and fuzzy. It moved slowly heading straight down towards the ground. It did not move similar to a shooting star, it seems to be moving slowly. What an exciting, beautiful sight.

Steve B.-Ridgefield, WA:
looking south, moving from east to west on a low downward trajectory, a full moon sized green translucent orb.  Lost sight of it behind some trees.
pretty eerie..  Steve

Alan B.-Towson, MD:
Visiting from Maryland on a west coast trip, we were driving south along the coast nearing Lincoln City, OR around 8:15 PM PDT on September 21st when suddenly a bright greenish-white fireball lit up the sky, first appearing at the top of our car windshield and then leaving an illuminated smoky trail behind it in the night sky as it passed toward the southwest and then disappeared from view.

Marion T.-Central Point, OR 8:00 P.M.:
I was driving North on the I-5 Corridor when a huge white streak of light came down in almost a straight flight pattern toward the horizon facing North West and just as I thought it was going to hit the earth burnt up and disappeared in a flash of light. Biggest light I have ever seen in the night sky and much more clear and precise than most comets or shooting stars. Would love to know what it was.

it looked irregularily shaped, like the head of an angled broom on fire coming down it seemed as it went north east or so
Vallerie B     thank you Vallerie!  More reports needed for confirmation...Other Witnesses?

Unknown Reporter-Downey, CA:
Hi, about 7:35 p.m. Downey ca, looked up saw a fire streak larger head with long tail, shoot across sky, north. Seemed to disintigrate, after 5 seconds. Very clear view, almost looked like a firework.     thanks!...whoever you are

Daniel C.-Upland, CA:
I saw a brilliant fireball last night around 8 PM in Upland. I was walking due east and the fireball arced downward from right to left about half way above the horizon at about 10 o'clock to my reckoning. It had a fiery head - I thought I saw flames - and a long tail. A passenger plane cruising northeast at about 30k feet passed by at the same time in the same quadrant of the sky. Beautiful sight.     thank you Daniel! I'm sure it was

Case F.-Norwalk, CA:
hello there, while walking my dogs somewhere in between 7-8pm, i caught the last couple seconds of a trail of fire in the sky. i was heading east and turned north when i saw the tail flicker out. the trail was shooting towards the north. it sounds like i had about the same view as daniel in upland :)  i thought it was fireworks until i noticed that the trail had a arc to it and it was moving too quickly. my first fireball/shooting star/meteor (?) sighting in california!
thanks for the website as i stumbled upon it looking for info on just what exactly i saw in the sky last night!     please bookmark my site, and thank you Case!

Joe V.-Orange County, CA:
I witnessed the fireball last week during my lunch break at work. And yesterday again during my lunch 7:15ish I seen a huge blue green flash followed by a second flash in the sky. I was wondering if anyone seen the same thing. I'm in orange county, ca.

Kim E.-Scottsdale, AZ:
We r in fountain hills arizona. Just east of scottsdale. At about 7:45 this evening as we looked toward the south a huge, slow moving object moved across the sky from west to east pretty slowly and was the most vibrant green and yellows. We have no idea what it was. Assuming a satellite or meteor. Have any clues???

Sarah K. & Joseph P.-Las Vegas, NV:
My name is Sarah. My son Joseph (driving),  and I and my granddaughter were driving out of Redrock Canyon, Las Vegas, Nv at app. 7:45pm on wed. Sept 14th; Joe said" Look " we witnessed a huge green fireball shooting through the sky heading SW. It was totally amazing. It lasted about 5 seconds then went over horizon.

Lance-Las Vegas, NV:
Thank you for awesome website.
I was driving South on Town Center Drive and looked up to see a very large orange ball streaking across the sky with an incredibly bright green tail.  It flew over head for abbot three? seconds and then disappeared.
My experience was the exact same as the other Las Vegas contributors that were traveling South at the time.  An awesome sight. Lance

Masayoshi K,-Prescott, AZ:
This is the meteor fireball I witnessed last night when I was driving on Prescott Lakes Parkway to the south between Willow Lake Road and State Route 89 in Prescott, Arizona. It was 7:45 PM. The green glow was flying across my field of vision almost horizontally from west to east. It lasted for about 10 seconds before it went down behind a mountain. It was so huge that I thought it was a falling aircraft at first! I have never seen such a huge meteorite flying for such long duration.

Evelyn C.-Irvine, CA:saw a huge fire ball with long bluish white tail. I'm sure it was miles awa but way too big for no one to notice

Richard B.-Carlsbad, CA:I just saw a large fireball in the sky to the east. I'm in Carlsbad. I was walking east and noticed the fireball. It was traveling right to left across the sky. It was greenish in color and the front of it was orange. Like an orange ball with a green halo and tail. It actually looked like two fireballs right next to each other. I saw it for about 3 or 4 seconds before it went behind the horizon. I didn't hear any sounds.

Unnamed Reporter-San Diego, CA:
Sept 14   7:45 pm, Fireball item
- irregular shaped object, with a 12 foot +/- streak of fire following it, along the horizon arching easterly in Scripps Ranch, San Diego.     MCAS (Marine Corps Air Station)  or Miramar East  (east of I-15) is directly south of us, but what a sight!
Artillery? or Fireball.   wow!

Stephen K.-Phoenix, AZ:Hello,
Spectacular fireball across the sky just minutes ago, just a bit south of Phoenix. One of the coolest things I've ever seen!
Steve

Phillip H.-Phoenix,AZ:
Large blue green fireball moving south breaking up as it moved.

Jerry B.-Yuma, AZ:Witnessed a large meteor / fireball near Yuma, AZ at approximately 1950 local on 14 Sep 11.  It passed just south of the airfield headed west to east and had a bright green and white tail to it.  It lasted 5-7 seconds.

Laura-Phoenix, AZ:I saw a white ball with a tail of green & blue coming from the south, then it broke up in front of me until there was nothing left. It was less than 50ft above the ground at the end!

Unnamed Reporter-Coronado, CA:
I was leaving work around 7:47 pm driving south from Coronado island and saw a huge fireball heading what seemed to be straight down. It was bright orange and yellow at first, then turned to a darker more red color. It broke off into pieces at what looked like about a mile up and diminished over southern San Diego. It looked like it was right over 32nd street naval base. Didn't hear any noise or any accompanying booms.

Christina E.-Unknown Location:I was heading east on Santa Fe towards El Camino Real tonight at around 745p tonight and saw the most amazing fireball falling from the sky south west of where I was driving towards Manchester in the canyons behind Crest, probably appeared closer than it was so could have been further south. In any case it was a glowing green-blue fire ball trailed by orange-red gaseous tail heading down towards the ground. The most magnificent gift I could have ever seen.  I feel so blessed to have witnessed this.
About 15min later 5 police cars were racing thru Encinitas & El Camino blvd. Three turned west on Encinitas an 2 drove straight thru towards Manchester  heading south. Curious if they were looking for the fireball as this one certainly hit ground somewhere.

Stacey C.-Chino Hills, CA:My husband and I just saw a huge green shooting star type thing.  We were in Chino Hills at the Costco facing South and it looked like it was dropping to the ground from west to east.  We lost sight of it behind Costco. My husband was the one who first spotted it and he said it lasted several seconds.  When I saw it it looked like it had a green tail on each side but he said that when he first spotted it, it only had one green tail and then broke into two.  I'm really curious about what this is.

Unnamed Reporter-Irvine, CA:My husband and I witness this in Irvine, Ca on 9/14 around 7:50pm. It lasted for about 30 seconds and for what my husband it was greenish/bluish. I was lucky enough to see the end of it which looked like the ending of a shooting star (white tail). We were amazed at how long it lasted. We almost anticipated a loud explosion after it ended.
Do we know why this is happening more frequently? By reading others reports on here it seems as if we are waiting for something big.

Natalie S.-Twin Cities, CA:I happened to find your site cause I heard about the california meteor or whatever it was.
Interesting to see your posts.
I posted this on facebook so will grab my post
Flashing green light in the sky when I put my dog out at 11:30 p.m.. It ran from north to south, which isn't really a plane status over our house. When I had the flashlight out to watch our dog, I shined it up there, it was gone. Strange....
It was a bright green light -- flashed and then gone.  I tried to follow it with the flashlight and it was gone, just like that!  I live in se twin cities, and the direction was slightly southwest of me, and traveling south.
I'm wondering if there were report of that?   Wierd to see the green meteor if that is what it was.

Diane-Phoenix, AZ:Hi, I do not know how I found your website, but, I saw a HUGE, beautiful meteor tonight in Phoenix and have been looking for info...wondering if u have any??? Thanks

Lena S.-Prescott, AZ:My husband and I where sitting on our couch and we got to see the meteor. It was awesome. We live in Prescott valley area. It was green when it was coming in. And when we saw it, it looked like it was heading towards Phoenix.

Nyle-San Diego, CA:I was browsing your site and thought I'd lend my short description of the event.
I was driving down I-5 south, just around Old Town/India St. at about 7:45pm when I saw what I initially thought was a missile descending from the east.
At first it was a bright teal surrounded by a burning orange-yellow. The orange-yellow faded shortly, leaving the teal fireball which slowly got smaller and smaller as it got closer and cloers.
It was great to see. I hope this helps.

Steve W.-Las Vegas, NV: I'm was driving on Rainbow Blvd headed south just past Russell Rd.. I saw a what I thought was a firework at first, but at second glance noticed that it seemed low traveling fast across the sky with minimal decent.. It resembled a meteor.. But it was an orange glowing ball with a green flare type tail.. It really reminded me of the green copper flame.. Some torch lighters have a little copper ball suspended in the middle of where the flame from the lighter comes out and the copper turns the flame green.. That's exactly what it looks like.. As if it were a large copper meteor..
Thanks...  Stevo..

Anonymous Reporter-San Clemente, CA:I was in San Clemente CA just entering San Diego County on the Pacific Coast highway heading south when I saw a meteor at about 7:42 pm local time. It was south at about 40 degrees elevation moving from west to east. It began as a red orange streak with a long tail moving slowly, but as time went on a green ball formed at the head. After about 5 or 6 seconds it flamed out and disappeared. My wife also saw it and she thought it might have been a flare, but we soon began to hear radio news reports that it was seen all over Southern California.

Christy R.-Phoenix, AZ:
I saw the green fireball last night and what really gets me is a friend of mine is telling me that NASA said it was space junk and landed in california. Im in Phoenix, and it was moving in a straight line West to East so how is that possible. NOT! It was very low and very clear and looked like a sideways moving firework because it was so intensely green but what really made it odd was the perfect straight line it moved in. Not even a bit at an angle like it was heading down. I saw the videos and they were way far away, what I saw looked very close, and bright and low in the sky.
Thank You
Christy R

Out my window in Claremont, CA, ~7:50PM PT, spotted an extremely bright and fast-moving fireball moving from west to east and increasing in brightness as it appeared to descend. Roughly 5-10x brighter than the planes flying out of Ontario airport. Brightest I've ever seen!

My son and I saw the meteor from Marion, Iowa (Cedar Rapids area) on Sunday night at 11:35 PM local time. It was traveling roughly south to north. While the lower part of the track was obscured by the roofline of my house from my viewpoint, my son, who had a better vantage point, said that it fractured into several pieces. It was much brighter than the moon and seemed to grow in intensity as it continued its re-entry. I don’t recall any sound associated with its passing but will check with my son after he arrives home.

Around 7pm me and my sons were walking back from the dump. Out of no where this small bright light appeared growing in size brighter and brighter. My sons 7 -5 asked if that star was about to blow. And then it just vanished. It lasted about 20 seconds. No other stars, just a full moon. Still a little day light actually. Knew it wasnt a plane though. I,d say the time was 7:06. Another North Texas Meteor Fireball 10SEP2011 ~8:30-8:45 P.M. CDT

Email From:
Theresa W.-Sachse, TX:
I saw a huge fireball tonight in north Texas at about 8:30 p.m. It was bright, larger than a shooting star. It was clearly seen in Sachse, Texas.

Anita E.-Plano, TX:
Walking my dog at 8:42 pm when I say a shooting star. Strange to see something so bright fall so close to a city like Plano, Texas. Funny before I saw it I was thinking about me being out of work and when I used to teach.  I was musing about the lesson of gratitude and how I made each student keep a gratitude journal.  I had passed out little notebooks and pencils attached.  I asked them to keep it at their bedside and every night before the went to sleep to write three things they were grateful for that day. Sometimes nature works miracles in our lives.

Jim P.-Allen, TX:
At an Allen, TX restaurant last night and saw a very bright white fireball streaking across the sky around 8:39pm. It was extremely bright white with an orange tail trailing behind. The venue was loud so sound was impossible to discern. My wife and I both saw it and we looked around for confirmation from the others around us but no one appeared to have seen it. I called 911 to report it and was told no one else had called it in. I was facing north and the light was travelling in a north western direction as if it was falling to the earth it may have landed in McKinney. I've seen a meteorite while in Austin before and it turned up landing near the town of West, TX. If that holds true here then what we saw last night could have landed in OK

Greg-Longview, TX:
White falling star witnessed at 8:39pm. I was in my vehicle driving NNW on Loop 281 in Longview Texas near the Alpine St exit. There were no visible stars in the sky and this was very bright and appeared to be falling straight down north of town. Largest one I have ever witnessed.

Cherish F.-Plano/McKinney, TX:
Hello, I saw your blog this morning. I was searching google after seeing a bright blue streak in the night sky. My family and I were headed home from Plano,TX to McKinney,TX.
We were headed North on Hwy 75 Central Expressway. We had passed Parker Rd. and I believe that is when I first saw it. It was so bright and bluish. It left a long streak in its trail. I was dumbfounded! I have NEVER seen anything like it. My husband did not see it unfortunately. He didn't look in time. It was on the West side of the highway. It streaked from South to North. It was amazing to say the least and very impressive!
Hopefully this is helpful information! So glad to see others saw it!
Thanks, Cherish F.
Robert M.-Tyler, TX:
Driving north just north of Tyler, TX on Hwy 69, about 8:40 PM, though I didn't think to look at the clock at the time. Green fireball, flickering and small trail visible. Plummeting straight down from my perspective. Visible through the top left of my windshield for about 3-4 seconds. Could not tell if it burned out or disappeared behind the treeline. As an aside, this is the third similar fireball I've witnessed over the past month or so. First was in Longview, tx, early am about a month ago. Second was just after sunset at my home in Nacogdoches, tx about 2 weeks ago. Are these certainly meteors? I ask because I've never seen anything like them before now.
Suzanne-Unknown Location:
My husband and I also saw the large fireball. We were facing north, and the trajectory was to the west. Larger than any we've ever seen. It was approx 30 degrees above the horizon. Very startling.
YC Bell-Unknown Location:
I saw the falling star between 8:30 pm and 9pm Sept. 10, 2011.
It was by far the brightest meteor I have ever seen.  It continued to burn past my line of vision which was obstructed by a two story house directly behind my home. I would estimate that  if it would have landed it would be just north near the soil conservation site 3rd reservoir just east of Hardin in McKinney and south of Virginia - Unless it was just so bright that it appeared closer than it actually was.  Also we reasoned that if it actually landed, conditions are so dry that it would have started a grass fire which none happened near here. It was falling east to west.

Kandice D.-Livingston, TX:
Around 8:30 or 9:00 last night I was headed to livingston tx down highway 59 when a friend a I seen this strange rather large green blue light falling absolutely straight down and then disappear.. Any reports on what it could had been?

Jennifer H.-Plano, TX:
Yes I saw the same thing and I live in Plano. It was huge….

Green Nova Scotia, Canada Meteor Fireball 09SEP2011 ~10:55 P.M. ADT

Email From:
Angela R.-Middleton, Nova Scotia:
Saw a bright green fireball towards the Bay of Fundy, near Middleton Nova Scotia. It lasted maybe 3-5 seconds, was bright white at first then flared out in a bright green ball of fire.

Brian W.-Cutler, ME:
I too saw the meteor reported over Fundy Bay Sept 9 2011 from the Cutler Maine coast. I was on the deck marveling at the waves from passing storm Katia under the nearly full moonlight when I observed the meteor passing to the south west basically opposite the transatlantic route for aircraft. It was an intense green color and large in size compared to any other celestial objects I have ever witnessed. The time coincides with your mark. An exciting and marvelous sight indeed especially in conjunction with the crashing surf. I am glad to see someone else saw this rare spectacle. I did not hear any audible noise from this object but it certainly would have been drowned out by the surf.

South Carolina, North Carolina Large Meteor Fireball 08SEP2011

ADDITIONAL REPORTS NEEDED !!!...Large Widely Seen Meteor Fireball North Carolina 08SEP2011

Email From:
Eric K.-North Topsail/Surf City, NC:
Not sure if this was a "fireball" or not.   Kinda looked like fireworks that never exploded.  I was sitting on the beach right near the border between North Topsail and Surf City, NC.  Saw the "fireball" far in the distance out at sea.  Moved a lot slower than a shooting star..... was maybe yellow or orange, can't remember.  First thought is that it could be a flare..... Camp Lejeune is nearby and we see helicopters fly over all the time, but we didn't hear or see any sort of helicopters, and if it was a flare from a ship at ocean, we didn't see it go up in the first place.

Cody C.-Greenville NC:
I saw a green flaming object falling from the sky at 7.57 pm 9-8-11 , as far as  i know just me another person saw and we are located in greenville, north carolina

Wendy C.-Siler City, NC:
I saw this same "fireball" as Eric and Cody. In fact, I live in Apex, NC and was driving home from Siler City, NC.  At the EXACT SAME TIME that Cody saw it - about 7:57 pm, I was passing by Pittsboro on Hwy 64 and saw it in the sky out in front.  I knew it wasn't a plane because the lights were clustered together. It moved left to right across the sky slowly, so I didn't really think it was a meteor.  My first two thoughts were either a flare, or a helicopter that was farther away than I realized.  I could see a mixture of colors flashing and when I went beneath the old 64 overpass, for a moment, I could completely discern a single red light and a green light.  Then suddenly, it just began to drop from the sky straight down, trailing a green streak behind it and then literally disappeared from sight. I heard nothing, saw no smoke...nothing.  However, as I continued to move foward, I did see what appeared to be 2 helicopters coming in the distance and one using its spotlight as if it were looking for something. I even considered it could be a hot-air balloon crash somehow because we have so many of those in this area.
 Wendy C. Apex, NC
