E-mail From Rosie M.-Swansboro, NC...I was sitting on the dock facing ESE (Cassiopeia behind me) at about 9:30 Friday night and saw the biggest, brightest meteor I've ever seen (and I see a lot of them out here in this low light pollution, coastal area). It arced across the sky from right to left over 100 degrees of my field of vision, for about 8 seconds, with a clear, rounded orange leading edge and long white smoke trail. I could see the complete round shape on the back edge, visible even through the tail. I've never seen anything like it! Spectacular!

E-mail From Sue F. in South Carolina...Last evening my friend and I were travelling home from the beach. We were traveling on I26 from Columbia, heading toward Greenville. We both were so delighted that we were seeing a shooting star. However, it did not fizzle-out like usual. The fireball did not seem to diminish in size and did not fizzle. It appeared to fall to the earth. We lost sight of it behind the trees. We wondered if it was actually a plane, but did not see any sign of an explosion on impact.   thanks sue!

Cathy In Traveler's Rest, SC Email's...April 6, 2011: At about 9:20 pm EDT my daughter observed a very large white light falling straight to the ground over Travelers Rest, SC in the southern direction.  At first, she thought it was an airplane because it was so large!  At the exact same time, a relative in TN posted to Facebook that she saw a large meteor.  Same one?!   looks like it Cathy...thank you for this important report!

Jon M. In Polson, MT Writes...I was indoors with the TV on, and still saw the meteor. I wish it wasn't cloudy, but it went in and out of view 4or 5 times. It was awesome. Incredible fragmentation, large pieces that had there own trains. It was a glowing train with parts breaking off. There were some clouds so my line of sight was a little broken up  thanks Jon!

Jean In Pasadena Writes...I was coming out of Home Depot tonight and saw a falling bright green object. Very firework or flare-like. Quite bright, but quite green also; more than just a green flow. The object was falling close to a perfect 45 degrees to the right from where I was looking. It was pretty much a clean straight line. It was falling reasonably fast, but not as fast as most shooting stars I've seen in my life so there was a good amount of time to observe (probably 1 second or a tad longer). I think someone seeing that would have thought it was part of a flare or firework or something, but having seen others in the past month or two, I figured it was a meteor. It diseappered approx 30 degrees or less above the horizon, before I would lose sight because of warehouses (it's kind of an industrial area, so not much high stuff around there.) That's all I can think about. If you have questions, pls let me know.

Debbie T. In Alta Loma CA...I saw a fireball in the southern California sky around 8 pm.  It went from a fireball to a greenish color before disappearing.   It was travelling from the East to the West.  It was the brightest and longest (duration) meteorite that I have ever seen!  thank you Debbie!

Gordon Near Mojave, CA Writes...I was on the 14 freeway headed West, about 15 miles before Mojave. The object first appeared approx 40 degrees above the horizon, trveling left to right (South to North). It at first appeared as a stationary light, the began traversing the sky and growing in brightness. Finally (after a good second or so) flared and disappeared. OKC Forward Scatter Radio Indicates Two Possibly Large Meteor Events...One Daytime Event...

James Beauchamp of Oklahoma City, OK captured the following images on his forward scatter receiver April 1st, 2011. In the images, the burst of multi-colored data indicates increased radio signal reflections by fast moving objects, likely meteors. The April 1st hit is "the largest I've ever seen" says Beauchamp, an expert in his field. "This may have been a visible daylight event."

Guest15 (guest): Tonight at approximately 8:35 or 8:40 pm in Blythewood, SC (northeast of Columbia) I witnessed a bright "fireball" with a shimmering tail quickly cross the sky below the big dipper heading North. It was spectacular! I'm not sure whether it was the Int'l. Space Station or a meteor, but it had the look of a comet, except it was moving fast. Beautiful to see and I'm so curious about it. My 8 year old wonders if it was Tinkerbell! Tinkerbell it is! thank you Cindy.

I saw a bright white/pale yellowish fireball last night (Apr 2nd 2011)
for only seconds in Perry, GA.  Was outside looking West.  Not sure of
the exact time. I'd guess around 8:00 - 8:30 pm.  Too big and too low in
the sky to be the "shooting stars" I've seen before.  It was a round ball
of fire with a wide tail travelling straight down. thank you Kirk!

Anonymous Writes...At approximately 9:30 pm CST on April 2, 2011 my wife and I were traveling north on Hwy 67 towards Miles, TX and saw at least 10 different red/orange lights appear in the sky at different times and then seem to burn out. They were not streaking down like a meteor or streaking up like a firework. They would just appear and then slowly disappear. I have no idea what they were.

E-mail From Jerry In South Carolina...At about 8:45 PM (Eastern Time) I saw a gigantic fireball/meteor or something falling in the southern sky from Exit 14 on I-85. It looked like it fell all the way to earth. It fell straight down, not left to right or anything... just straight down.... from what I would say was about 1 or 2 O'clock position... Gigantic ball of light... must have been south of Lake Hartwell somewhere.... anyone else see it?

The nighttime hours of March 23-24 were much more than just remarkable for Oklahoma residents and those of adjacent states. A series of green fireballs blazed across western Oklahoma skies during a 7.5 hour period starting at 9:20pm CDT on the 23rd,  and lasting through 4:30 am CDT on the 24th. The flurry of fireball activity was witnessed by well over 100 people who filed reports with ELPALLSKY and Worldwide Meteor/Meteorite News Tokyo, Japan. All but one event were captured on either Sandia Sentinel Fireball Cameras or direct view cameras. The events are posted below in chronological order.

Bright Northern CO Meteor Fireball 31MAR2011

E-mail From Michael Kornblatt: I was in Littleton, CO approx 6:05 am, Wadsworth Ave and US 285 (Hampden), facing North, Northeast and saw a very large, very bright mass of light headed almost straight down.  I saw it for 2 seconds, then it disappeared behind the morning cloud cover. The size and brightness were amazing! I wish I could have watched it longer!

From Daniel S. Near Boulder...Looks like the same event the others are reporting, though I would put the time a little later. Approx. 6 20 am. I was driving north on highway 93 towards Boulder, approx. near highway 128 junction. Meteor was seen to the north east at approx 30 degrees east. Elevation approx 35 degrees above horizion. It was VERY bright and maybe the apparent size of 0.5 inches or my fingernail. It was bright and appeared burning. I actually looked up looking for a plane or something to see if it had fallen off something. Daniel

Steve S. In Ft. Collins Writes...Saw it too, but my time was ~6:20 am, 3/31/2011.  Driving north on Taft Ave in Fort Collins, CO.  Very large (nickel-to quarter-sized) white light body falling almost vertical and rapidly, also north-northeast, roughly in direction of Cheyenne WY.  My view of horizon was obstructed so I couldn't see whether it disappeared behind or in front of clouds, but if behind it was a very long way off, because clouds appeared to be at least 40-50 miles away. Was expecting to see reports on news but nothing so far.  Steve S.

Kathleen B. In Berthoud...I was driving north on Hwy 287 west of Berthoud (between Longmont and Loveland) when at about 6:15 am I saw the brilliant fireball falling in the sky in the north/northeast. It disappeared behind a dark cloud bank across the northern horizon.  I was amazed and somewhat startled. I just had to report it to someone so I actually called the Loveland police dept. thinking that if it hit the ground, it would be a blazing fire perhaps on the eastern plains. I checked the news several times but found nothing mentioned so I finally reported the incident to 9 News. But still nothing has been said. I finally did a google search for “meteor northern Colorado” and found your write up this afternoon.  Wow, that was really spectacular!!! Kathleen

Texas Meteor Fireball Sighted 29MAR2011

Sean LeClaire In Frisco TX E-mail's...On 3/29/11 at around 10:30pm, I was in the backyard of our house in Frisco, TX taking the dogs out, when I saw what appeared to be a shooting star.
The object was round in shape and green in color and was below the low flying, thick clouds.  The object was heading southwest, which I verified with a compass.  The object resembled a "roman candle" firework ball.  It broke up and had what looked like glowing peices or sparks coming from it before it disintegrated. 
I stayed outside and looked all around to see if someone was shooting fireworks, but nothing else happened.  I quickly came inside and told my wife what I saw. thank you Sean!

Betty In Fort Worth Writes...I also saw this "green" fireball from our home in SW Fort Worth around the same time on March 29, 2011...I was doing the same thing as Sean, taking our dogs out. It was an awesome and beautiful sighting! I wasn't originally looking at the sky but the brightness and movement caught my eye. Not sure how much I missed, but I got to see several seconds of it. I was facing east, but agree that the meteor appeared to move in a southwest direction. I saw a similar event from Austin, TX several years ago, earlier in the evening, only dusk at the time. It was much larger and it lasted even longer. That was my first time to see a green one and had NO idea what it was....thought it was a satelite or rocket burning up at the time... BK in FW, TX.  thank you Betty, glad you saw at least some of it !
