Southern New Mexico Meteor Fireball 22nov2011?

Email From:
Serena K.-Las Cruces, NM:
Last night we watched a reddish-orangish ball slowly ‘fall’ on the NE side of town. It would fade then get bright again, sort of like someone smoking a big cigarette in the sky. Not sure what it was, but it was cool! All I could think about was all the ‘end of days’ horror movies. I live in Las Cruces, southeast part of town (?). We saw ‘it’ November 22, Tuesday night around 8 – 8:30. Serena  Thank you Serena!...Checking NMSU All Sky Cameras for video. Will post if/when obtained

My Wife seen a fiery meteor in the sky here in albuquerque 200 miles away from you
followup email...
Saw something similar that was on the south side of the sky heading north-wards. This thing was so big when I looked up it looked like one of the street lights then started falling toward the ground. I yelled at my husband to look up and it had already disenegrated while on fire

Joan D.-Santa Fe, NM:
I saw this same event in the sky about 6:30PM Mountain Time in Santa Fe.  An orange flash in the eastern sky moving north with a long tail...awesome with the full moon.

Saw a bright green meteor while looking S. from my balcony in Albuquerque last night (Aug 4, 2011) a few minutes before 10 PM MDT.  Sky was partly cloudy with partial moon in W.  Passage lasted a second or more and went from NE to S where I could no longer see it due to clouds.  Was bright enough I waited to hear some kind of boom or sound, but never heard anything.     thank you Todd! The ELPALLSKY/Sandia Sentinel Fireball Camera captured the event in the following composite flight image and video. Enjoy!

ASTEROID Debris Strikes Earth in New Mexico?
Multiple fireballs over New Mexico and Western Texas May be Linked to a Recent Asteroid Near Earth Event
by Jim Gamble and LunarMeteorite*Hunter
(c) 2010 AllRightsReserved  Excerpts only with full URL and Author(s) citation.

Recent multiple fireballs reports streaming in from North and South America may be linked with the near Earth passing asteroids of Sep 8-9.  The most recent multiple events occurred last night (Sep 21, 2010) over Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. The first two of the multiple events were nearly simultanenous over central New Mexico. They were followed by Event 3, a 23 second major bolide event over northern New Mexico at 9:03pm MDT (03:03UTC)
(see LunarMeteorite*Hunters).
Event 4  occurred  some one-and-a-half hours later at 10:36pm MDT (04:36UTC), and was also observed from El Paso, Texas.  It was of short duration, approximately 1.5 seconds, with a visual magnitude of -6.  It followed the identical trajectory of Events 1,2,3 but occurred farther south, probably over south central New Mexico.
