While walking my dog I noticed a Fireball shooting directly down towards earth.  With the news of the YU55 I have been more focused on the sky than normal tonight.  I live in Port Saint Lucie Florida ( South East Florida).  The Fireball I witnessed occurred at 9:00 PM EST.  I am an avid outdoorsman and have seen plenty of shooting stars which do not look like what I saw tonight.  I began searching the web to see if anyone else had similar experiences and found this site.  Hope someone can answer what I may have seen.

PASADENA, Calif. -- Scientists working with the 230-foot-wide (70-meter) Deep Space Network antenna at Goldstone, Calif., have generated a short movie clip of asteroid 2005 YU55. The images were generated from data collected at Goldstone on Nov. 7, 2011, between 11:24 a.m. and 1:35 p.m. PST (2:24 p.m. and 4:35 p.m. EST). They are the highest-resolution images ever generated by radar of a near-Earth object.

Hi, I saw a HUGE Fireball tonight on my way home from work at approx 6:45 EST. I am in Montreal. I was driving East on Hwy 40, and I saw in the sky what appeared to be something crashing. I was talking with Mom and said to her" OMG, something is crashing!" It was travelling downward very swiftly: Right to Left (or NW if you will). It looked like a huge ball of fire. I could almost SEE the burning fire...I wonder if and where it landed. Amazing.

hi at around 8 30 pm tonight, 6 nov 2011 i saw a very fast very bright, and either very close or very large object streak accross the sky over my house, in bear river nova scotia, it was travelling north east as a rough guess and it was so close and so bright that i thought it was a firework, but it moved too fast and straight i checked outside, no people around, no smell or noise of fireworks anywhere, i just wondered if anyone else saw it,  funny thing is that it seemed more rounded that i have ever seen a falling star so maybe it was a meteor? if anyone else saw it please let me know, thanks, Dave  Thanks Dave...OTHERS? Hi there,
I was walking my dog in the dark field next to my place and I happened to see it. A bright circular white light headed straight downwards, quickly.
I was'nt sure I had really seen what I just saw. (If that makes any sense to you... )
A multitude of different things passed through my mind of what it could have been, from the rational to the insane. (It was really fast, and I did'nt have enough time to focus on the object 100%) Anything from a shooting star, to a fallen piece of a satellite, to me having a brain tumour 'phenomenon' style (lol), and even aliens...
I saw it anywhere between 8h25 and 8h35, so the timing is right.
I saw it from Sydney, NS. Saw it fall North-West.. with a lot more emphasis on the West.  Thank you Valerie. Confirmation!

Saw a large fireball falling to the south of me at 11:05 MDT.  It appeared
to be near El Paso. Looked red & yellow, like real fire, to me, but I was in such disbelief, it’s hard to tell if I remembered correctly! My initial reaction was that a plane exploded, since it appeared to be ‘heading’ toward ELP. Scared the wits out of me! Confirmation report! Thanks Toni!

I just saw a completly red streakalmost dead west from my location low on the horizon appearing to gostraight down. The streak was long, if I held my hand out it was about3 inches long. It was also wide which was odd, it looked about 1/4-1/2"wide again measured against my outstreatched hand. It was there withwhat sorta looked like the same color sparks and then gone in under asecond.
It was the width that caught my attention. Also that is was all red..

Looked up an saw a object, normally a star is located in the same position. I thought at first it was the same star but the object was glowing orangish red moving across the sky. It was not a steady glow it was more of a blinking. I've never seen anything like this. Unfortunately I'm in an area where there are trees and was unable to get any picture because it moved behind a line of trees. It was dark outside but dawn was about to break. Any idea what this was?

First thought it must be the sun but it rose quickly & was HUGE & very red. It kept rising into the clouds quickly. No one at work saw it. Did anyone else see it?

this lasted maybe a second and then went out
leaving behind a ribbon of smoke

Not sure WHAT exactly I saw, but at 7:00 am on Sunday, Oct 23, 2011 I stepped out of my front door and saw to the Northwest what I first thought was a shooting star.  The only difference was that the bright tail trailing behind was multicolored and it appeared to fall pretty much all the way to the ground before I lost sight of it behind the houses across the street.  Then I thought it might have been fireworks but never heard a sound.  I live in the Northwest part of Houston….did anyone else report this sighting?  Thank you Kathy, confirmation!

evening here in North Carolina.  Shot from near the same
place as the fireball I sent you a couple weeks ago.
Is this very common?  They are in the same 30 second frame.
I don't know if they occurred simultaneously, or not since I
was in  the house when it was recorded.

Hey my name is Jennifer im 24 from Windsor Ontario Canada.
I was googling about meteors because lastnight around 10.30pm I was standing in my back yard having a ciggarette looking up at stars, was just a beautiful night and was luckly enough to catch a meteor fly literally over our back yard,
It resembled a fire cracker, yet no noise. It was SUPER bright and low in the sky and lasted merely 3 seconds. It took me a sec to process what I had just seen, but was truly a specticle....
Then tonight I seen a shooting star, so with the two in the last two days figured I would google since, I have never seen that here in windsor before and came across your website.

About 45 minutes ago i saw a fireball come from the sky. I live in colorado springs and it seemed to go west into or past the mountains. It hurt my eyes to look straight at it. At first i thought we were under attack and waited for an explosion. Then after a google search i saw the ROSAT had crashed. I never saw anything so bright.

Very bright, almost like a magnesium flame. Roughly shaped like a truncated
triangle with narrow part in the front. Some trailing streak. Appeared to be
very low to ground or moving more perpendicular towards ground than would
have expected of meteors.
Almost appeared to "crash" nearby and we even thought to look for a crash
site.
We were in car in wooded residential area traveling WNW and the streak was
moving nearly exactly from the east to the west so it came into view as it
passed over car and appeared as if it would impact. It was lost from view as
it seemed to pass though the trees and was lost from sight. My front seat
passenger and I both reacted out loud as though we'd seen a crashing burning
object.
