At roughly 7:45 PST 22JAN2011, a number of reports came in to ELPALLSKY and other meteor news outlets of a "glowing" ball of orange light over British Columbia, Canada. These reports indicated the event to have lasted many minutes leading us to believe, now, that this event was not a meteor. We will continue to monitor reports and try and get answers as soon as we can. Thanks, however, for the many reports on this and do not hesitate to post what you saw to this site. Thank You! Breaking Meteor News...AMS Says 50 Reports Of Seven Seperate Bolide Events Over N America 19Jan 2011...
The American Meteor Society has received 39 reports of seven separate fireball events over North America on January 19th. Two of
these were widely seen events. Both of these events occurred near 21:00 EST. The first occurred over the northern Midwest and
southern Canada. There is some wide scattered timing of this event and the possibility exists that this may be more than one
fireball. The second occurred over the southeastern states and was seen from Florida north to North Carolina. There is good
agreement for the timing plus it seems to been a bit brighter with a majority of those reporting that the peak brightness exceeded
that of the full moon.
For more details please visit the AMS website at:

Raliegh NC...Meteor/Fireball Report 16Jan2011
Around 3am EST. Seen westward ~ 45deg up, moving S to N lasted nearly 5 sec and very slow, maybe traveling 1/ 4 of sky. Thot was a plane at first ( just a ball) but was quite a bit too fast. Don' t recall much of a tail, but flared into several pieces at end and dissipated.
Around 3am EST.

Guest977 (guest): Louisville,Bright Green/Blue Fireball-
Lyons, CO. Jan. 14th, 2011 approx. from 9:30-10:15pm MST. In the Northern sky traveling NW at a steep downward angle. It was larger than the size of the full moon and nearly as bright. It lasted for just over 3 seconds. I have seen many large meteors and fireballs over the years this was the largest and brightest by far. Two of us witnessed in awe, a very bright fireball with a green core (core looked like it was fractured in 5 pieces) with radiating blue, orange, then white rays of light with bright white-orange tail. We were awestruck at its vibrant intensity from the comfort of the hot tub. I happened to see it in its entirety because I was reclining in the hot tub and looking right where it first appeared.
