Email From:
Andy S.-Geneva, NY:
Coming home last night at 9:19pm ET traveling east toward Geneva NY I clearly saw a large fireball or meteor fall straight down right in front of me. The moon was to my right about 60 degrees, and the size of the fireball was about half the full moon's width, and nearly as bright. It was mostly white with a wispy trail but had a noticeable green core color with gold edging, very similar to what you'd expect from a falling fireworks display. But there was no fireworks show in the area, and this was a single light. It fell much slower than any shooting stars I've seen, hanging for what must have been a good 4 seconds before flaming out before touching the horizon. I would estimate it flamed out a fist's height at arm's length from the horizon; for a moment I expected it to come all the way to the horizon!   thank you Andy! First report....WE NEED OTHERS !!! mail to wxtx01@gmail.com

***If you are searching for information about this fireball and witnessed it, please leave a report of what you saw at wxtx01@gmail.com Please include the date and time, the direction you were facing/driving, the direction in which the object moved (upper left to lower right etc.) approximate size and brightness compared to a full moon, color, any flashes, streaks, fragmentation and any sounds or delayed sounds such as sonic booms, hisses, sizzles etc. Thank you! I was with other women outside a church in Fogelsville, PA a little after 9pm on Wed. Aug. 10, 2011. We saw a flash of what looked like a white bright fireworks display falling in a trail behind a building. Came from southeast and fell to northwest. I'm not certain about the direction as we were out in the country but I think that's correct.
