My son and I saw the meteor from Marion, Iowa (Cedar Rapids area) on Sunday night at 11:35 PM local time. It was traveling roughly south to north. While the lower part of the track was obscured by the roofline of my house from my viewpoint, my son, who had a better vantage point, said that it fractured into several pieces. It was much brighter than the moon and seemed to grow in intensity as it continued its re-entry. I don’t recall any sound associated with its passing but will check with my son after he arrives home.

Around 7pm me and my sons were walking back from the dump. Out of no where this small bright light appeared growing in size brighter and brighter. My sons 7 -5 asked if that star was about to blow. And then it just vanished. It lasted about 20 seconds. No other stars, just a full moon. Still a little day light actually. Knew it wasnt a plane though. I,d say the time was 7:06.
