J.D.-M.-Fresno, CA:Standing outside in FRESNO, CA, USA while looking toward the "Big Dipper" I saw a bright cherry red (like hot steel in a forge) fireball which came from the south, i.e. over my head, and burned out approximately 45 degrees above the horizon at approximately 2120 hrs, PDT. The object was quite large, i.e. 10-15 star diameters, and moving relatively slowly (when comparted to my rememberances of the usual summer meteor. What might have it been? J>D>
