Jan 7 2011, 3:08 PM: Guest. I live in Murrieta CA. On Jan 6-2011 at about 7:30p I saw the fireball mentioned by others earlier. It was about 40 deg up from the western horizon and broke up into 3 pieces at about 20 degrees up from the western horizon. It was slow moving, taking about 5 minutes to traverse the two points mentioned. The slow speed might indicate that it was a satellite falling out of orbit.
