Brief Eyewitness Account From:
Daniel D.-El Paso, TX:
Wow!, the most awesome meteor I've seen! Long-lasting, low on the horizon, a brilliant flash, and a neon-green trail!   Initial Report! Thank you Daniel!

Additional Reports via Email:
Toni C.-Timberon, NM:
Saw a large fireball falling to the south of me at 11:05 MDT.  It appeared
to be near El Paso. Looked red & yellow, like real fire, to me, but I was in such disbelief, it’s hard to tell if I remembered correctly! My initial reaction was that a plane exploded, since it appeared to be ‘heading’ toward ELP. Scared the wits out of me! Confirmation report! Thanks Toni!

Desirae R.-DelValle, TX:
was sitting on my front porch when I saw the bright green fireball fly over my house in delvalle flying toward austin in the lower atmosphere, does any one know what it is, I have never seen anything so amazing, hope no one got hit if it hit down any where

Email From:
Shelly W.-South Of Dallas, TX:
You seem to be looking at the sky a lot.  I just saw a large slow moving fireball streaking across the sky  disappearing into the horizon.  No noise, too far out.  I've looked for a meteor shower being posted.  Nothing.  You mention space junk, but this would not be the right day. Did you see anything?  I live about 70 south of Dallas, so it would have been in to my southwest.
Thanks
Shelley W      no, Shelly. Confirmed...not space junk. Thank you for your report!

Ron H.-Austin, TX:
I saw it while driving in Austin heading North on Pleasant Valley Rd.. I was rather surprised by how slow it was moving. It looked to be heading in a Northwestern direction before the tree line obscured it. It was white then green. It's my second meteor sighting in 2 months, I witnessed the Georgia fireball on May 20th while I was in Tallahassee, FL. Seems like a lot of activity is going on. I actually just heard 2 pops about an hour ago. Maybe sonic booms? Any other activity happen around that time?     Several other events across the U.S. we're gathering data on. Check this site for those and others and thank you Ron!

Chris G.-Pflugerville, TX:
I was on my way to the store with my cousin, it was basically a falling rock that was shining green and we thought it was a firework, until a small cloud blocked it out for a few seconds and it hit the ground in less than 2 seconds. I had my cell in my hand but wasn't quick enough to snap a picture :\ We didn't hear any sounds or bangs after. i think we we were pretty far away, and i don't know which direction we were going in. we are in pflugerville.      thank you Chris!

Crystal G.-Fields Of Cover, TX:
Hi guys, just wanted to confirm witnessing this event. Both my husband and I saw it while driving in our subdivision, Fields of Cover, right on Crestway street and FM78 road. We thought it was a flare or fireworks. Couldn't here anything due to radio, just a bright greenish color. It was amazing. It seemed to have fallen in our subdivision, it was very close, around 11:35ish. The street illuminated greenish light.

John Z.-Cedar Park, TX:
"I also saw the 06/20/11 fireball over Texas. I'm in Cedar Park (a subdivision of Austin TX). It was kind of windy here last night, so I went outside to investigate at about 11:48 or 11:50 PM Central time and looked up into the northwest part of the sky - I guess I got really lucky because just as I looked there the fireball appeared. It was large and blazed downward at a steep angle leaving a greenish trail behind it - I watched it do down until it disappeared behind the row of homes on my street - about a second after that there was a bright green flash that lit up the sky near the horizon so I'm guessing that it probably exploded before hitting the ground (or maybe it did hit the ground?). Didn't hear any sound at all."

Jordan H.-Lake Ray Hubbard, TX:
I was on I30 heading west just over lake ray hubbard when I saw a huge streak in the sky that just kept falling and falling. Had an orange glow to it. I lost sight of it behind buildings. It started more than halfway up in the sky. June 20 @1145pm. Moving from left to right in the west/northwestern sky.

Gary D.-San Antonio TX:
Yes!!! Everybody thinks I'm nuts but I saw this too from an Exxon in San Antonio, TX.  I happened to be looking up in the sky while filling my car up and noticed 2 planes coming into the city (as I live near an airport) and then suddenly noticed a green/reddish colored comet-like object racing through the sky at speeds that made the planes look like they were at a stand-still. Regardless, it hung for a good second in the sky and it was traveling parallel to the horizon--almost as if it was gonna strike somewhere way up north. I was facing dead north when it happened so it was apparently headed in that path. If there is any other news on what this was, please let me know!! I posted this yesterday on my Facebook and a few others saw it as well. Then I came across this article this morning as I was trying to find some account to what this was that I witnesses last night. Thanks!!

Joey D.-San Angelo, TX:
I am glad someone else saw it as well.   A friend of mine and I  were sitting outside last night.   I saw it, he didn't.  I am located in San Angelo texas 76904.   I was facing south and it crossed from west to east.   Very big (as compared to a normal "falling star") and moved much slower.  It was green with a yellow-orangish tail.  As it traveled east, my house blocked my viewpoint, but i did see a yellow flash on the horizon.   I ran to the edge of my yard and looked over my fence;  i guess i was waiting for a boom.  There was just silence the whole time.  It looked as though someone had shot a firework from my neighbors house it was so close, just no noise.  I went back to my seat and looked at my phone,  it was 11:46pm.   Funny thing is, my friend who was facing west, never saw it.  And, probably 5 to 15 minutes before then, he asked if there was a storm coming in, because he thought he saw lightening coming from the southwest. Let me know if you need more info.

Mariah M.-Austin, TX:
Hey, thanks for posting on this. I saw it last night and thought I was crazy. It was so bright! I thought it was a bottle rocket at first. I saw it around 11:44pm last night driving west on Cesar Chavez about to get on Mopac. It looked like it was headed northwest. It was kind of yellowy white and had a tail. I'm attaching a map of where I was and what direction the fireball was headed in relation to me. What exactly was it? Thanks!

Lawrry C.-Dripping Springs, TX:
I was pulled over @ picnic area on cr165 between dripping springs & blanco, TX suddenly the area lit up enough to cast a shadow i looked up towards the general direction of round mountain, TX and saw a florescent green light falling straight down turning to a firey yellow and burned out. We are in extreme wildfire danger but I saw no grass fires. Time was approximately 11:45, 6/21/11

Kyna G.R.-Morris Ranch, TX:
I saw the meteor fall last night in an area referred to as Morris Ranch tx.  We are located 11 miles from Fredericksburg and about 13 miles from Kerrville  Tx     I saw it falling northwest in the sky.  It was so bright, it caught my eye through the window. Never seen anything like it.  Looked like a small explosion in the sky. Saw it at about 11 55 pm June 20 2011.   Orange fire and a tail of smoke behind it as it appeared to fall to the ground.  Traveled right to left as I stood northwest.  Morris ranch tx. Hope this helps

Jacob C.-Brownwood, TX:
saw this email add online when researching a fireball i saw last night.
i am in Brownwood, tx and i was on the back pourch with my mother at approx 2345 when my conversation was interupted by a light that hurt my eyes to look at. it was almost like a long camera flash had gone off. the light was so bright it was like daylight for about 2-3 seconds. i was facing the west-southwest when i saw the streak of light. it had a greenish tint followed by a fairly long fire trail that looked almost like the trail from a large bottle rocket. it was moving from the south to north i think. to be honest i was surprised not to hear an explosion afterwards. im in the military and thought it was the result of a mortor flare going off. hope this helps your research.

Max-Manchaca, TX:
me my uncle and my cousin where outside smoking a cigg .
no lights were on and we saw a bright greenish white falling star .
at first i had my back tords it looking at my uncle and i saw his face light up and can almost see waves in the light on him and turned around (facing north) and got a glipse of it right before it disappeared behind the trees. it was traveling from west
it had a long trail behind it. very very bright , no sound .
20 minutes later i was facing south and saw a shooting star.
hope this helps

ARDADMIN-Austin, TX:
My husband and I were taking out the trash at about 11:30 on June 20.  We live in NW Austin by Lake Travis north of Lakeway. We saw the fireball, which to me looked bluish at the head with a bright yellow and orange tail, heading Northwest in the lower atmosphere.

Michael L.-Duncanville, TX:
I saw that you wanted information from people that saw the meteor in Texas on Monday 20 June 2011. I was at home in Duncanville Texas (Latitude: 32°37'27.7" N Longitude: 96°54'57.4"S) and was looking southwest, about 220°, somewhere around 11:30 pm when I saw it. I had just opened my front door when it saw it going from left to right at an angle of maybe 30°. It was green in color and I didn't hear anything because I was still inside my house about to exit. Don't know if the storms in my area to the north had anything to do with the color. I first thought it might have been fireworks but the speed, angle, and size quickly ruled that out.

William B.-In Flight Over Central OK:
Greetings!
My wife and I saw the green fireball last monday night from on board a United Express flight on approach to Will Rogers World Airport in OKC from the west.  We were on the right side of the aircraft looking south at lightning in the distance when the fireball occurred.  It appeared to be very close and at about our level!  I don't know what altitude that was, but I would guess between 10kft and 20kft.  It looked much like a green roman candle!  From our vantage point it appeared to be moving vertically with little or no horizontal component of velocity.

Vestor S.-Central TX:
My friend and I were driving west on hwy 71 close to midnight on 6/20/2011 when we saw from the upper left to the lower right a huge green, then blue, then orange meteorite. There was a whistling noise then it appeared to almost land before it fizzled out. My name is Vester S. my email is (email on file) phone is (phone # on file) I have never seen one this big nor this close. It was really close. Before it crashed we thought we saw a huge light in the air.

Keith V.-San Antonio, TX
Not sure how helpful this is, but I saw the meteor over central Texas
on Mon Jun 20th, 2011. I don't have an exact time, but it was pretty
close to midnight. I was just off Blanco Rd., about 5 miles north of
1604 loop in San Antonio, TX. Looking north, the trajectory was nearly straight down for me, so it didn't really streak across the sky like others that I have seen. It appeared to break apart a bit as it went behind the hills to the north of me where I lost sight of it.

So, it took me a while, but here is the info:
I left the Hertz garage at George Bush Int. at 11:08, says my receipt.  About half an hour later, heading toward Woodlands on I45, just south of Spring.  So driving  about 5 degrees west of north, I spotted the lit object falling slightly eastward from straight down.  I recall it being an orange color before it disappeared behind trees or a freeway ramp.
Best regards,
Kent

Joe C.-Baird, TX:
I was traveling east towards Weatherford,Tx on June14,2011 around 11:30 pm on I-20 when me and my wife both saw what appeared to be a meteor streak across the sky directly in front of us and break apart right before impacting the ground. It was traveling from the SE to NW. We were around mile marker 290 around Baird,Texas . I've seen meteors/falling stars before but  they were always streaking across the sky. This was the closest i've ever seen one and it appeared to actually impact the earth not burn out in the night sky like the ones i'd seen before. It was an amazing sight. We were traveling back from Colorado on vacation and i decided to search the internet and see if anyone else saw what we saw and thats when i ran across your site.   thank you Joe!

11:34 PM Central Standard time Tuesday June 14, just saw a pretty good sized fire ball come from the south heading North North West. I am located 30 miles north of George Bush Intercontinental Airport. I am just slightly west of city limits of Conroe, TX. Looked as though it fell in-line with the south/north route of I-45. White orange in color. Clear FLAME trail behind it, made no sound.   excellent report Julie. Thank you!
followup from Julie: Was slightly above tress in sky from south, lost it in tree line to my NNW. Hope it helps!     indeed it does! Thanks again.

Preliminary Ground Track Of 20MAY2011 Georgia Fireball Bolide Released By NASA...

From ELPALLSKY 22MAY2011:
Initial estimation of the ground track is based on preliminary data from two NASA all sky cameras located in Cartersville and Chickamauga Georgia.

NASA Meteoroid Environment Office Director Dr. Bill Cooke tells ELPALLSKY...
"First off, this thing hit the top of the atmosphere moving very fast at 38.6 km/s. Orbit is low inclination and nearly parabolic, which implies a cometary origin.

Important stuff:
Start point: Lon -83.480 +/- 0.0018, Lat 32.700 +/- 0.0018, height 106.7 +/- 0.3 km
End point: Lon -84.915 +/- 0.0017, Lat 33.725 +/- 0.0017, height 61.2 +/- 0.3 km

Speed 38.6 +/- 1.9 km/s

Radiant coordinates: RA 249.1 Dec -23.0, both with errors of about 1.0 degree. These coordinates are a close match to the antihelion radiant at ~252, -22."

image courtesy NASA MSFC MEO EV44-click image to enlarge

In the video below, frame speed has been reduced to 1/3 real-time to better show fragmentation of the bolide during it's illuminated flight. This video courtesy NASA MSFC MEO EV44

ELPALLSKY asked Dr. Bill Cooke (Dir. of MEO at Marshall Space Flight Center-Huntsville, AL) whether he believes any of the bolide might have made it to the ground...
"I doubt it - dirty ice doesn't like heat too much :P Plus the meteor was very fast, well above the 15 km/s threshold you usually see in meteorite droppers. However, I could be wrong - waiting on Peter Brown (UWO-Canada) and his team to take a look and give me their thoughts.

Initial Landfall Estimations For Canadian Bolide Of 14MAY2011

From ELPALLSKY-16MAY2011:
Finnish Meteor Physics Expert Esko Lyytinen Calculates Initial Impact Area Of Canadian Bolide Based On Single Camera Solution
I have some rough one-station results, based on fitting to mutually timed observations. This means that the direction of entry will be got from the angular velocity changes. ( Also the deceleration is from this, but the deceleration affects mostly near the end, and can be got as separate at least roughly in good instances.)
The whole track must be scaled by getting a resonable start height.
The entry velocity of 22 km/s would correspond the start height of 86 km. The end, behind clouds, but allready dimming fast, is got at 19 kilometers.
It arrived from az direction 17 with the slope of 39 degrees. I expect the accuracy of these to be a few degrees ( if I did the star identifications correctly).
This would mean a good size meteorite down. It would have fallen very roughly about 60 km to the SW of the camera station. But I would hope that some other camera also captured this.

Esko

UPDATE...Canada Fireball Bolide Video Captured By Sandia Sentinel Camera - College Of The Rockies, Cranbrook BC, Canada...

Reported Sightings
(c) 2011 Worldwide Meteor/Meteorite News and Google Earth

Written by Rick Nowell
Sunday, 15 May 2011 10:07

The dark night sky of Cranbrook was lit up like daylight early Saturday morning at 2:17am (Mountain Daylight Time) when a huge meteor rocketed overhead. Appearing as a dim dot at first, likely 100km high to the North, it rapidly grew into a big white ball as big as the moon, with a tail behind it.

 Fireball First Appearance<http://www.bcmeteors.net/images/stories/COTR/j20110514_081741_000.jpg
>

Fireballs First Appearance from High

It flared into brilliance, lighting up the whole sky and layers of white clouds to the Southwestern horizon. Within four seconds the flare sank as it moved a bit South of West, sinking down into the clouds, towards the setting Moon and Creston and Spokane way. It headed in a direction of about 230 degrees. Then a dull rumble of thunder sonic boom followed after it since it was going at supersonic speeds.

Fireball Develops Tail, Passes Over Cranbrook

Reports are coming in from across Southwestern Alberta, Southeastern BC, Idaho, and Washington. People have seen it along a broad strip from Calgary, Bowden, Red Deer, Cranbrook, Spokane, Coeur d"Alene, Nelson, Kamloops, Penticton and Kelowna, Most describe an intense greenish white ball of light, hitting somewhere around Kelowna. Ed Majden found these reports at http://lunarmeteoritehunters.blogspot.com/2011/05/montana-washington-idaho-alberta.html

At Cranbrook, the College of the Rockies Meteor camera imaged it for 9 seconds as it went overhead. The camera has a wide-angle fisheye lens, so be aware the video frames above show the entire sky, with the horizon as a ring around the edge. North is at the 3 o'clock position, East at 12 o'clock. The streetlights of Cranbrook are along the bottom right, you can see two tall trees at 10 o'clock lit up from the College parking lot. The Sentinel camera is black and white (for best starlight sensitivity) so these orange colours are false. We can't verify the green tint people reported. (I can verify the thunder, since I heard that too, after the flash. I thought it was a distant thunder storm...)

Dave Balam from the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory says "I've searched the DAO images from last night and we were completely overcast. Too bad....that's a classic bollide and could have dropped a few stones."

Dr Ken Tapping from the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics in Penticton says: "I think I got it too, although my time is a little different. 2011May14 at 08:19:00 UT. In EastNorthEast, heading SouthEast, just above the ENE edge of my camera field, and rapidly leaving it. Broadening and brightening rapidly, but I did not get the really bright stuff. That is one heck of a video."

Coincidental Australia ISS Fly-Over AND Early Morning Large Bright Green Bolide Event Confuse Perth Residents, Astronomers, And Local Media 10MAY2011

From ELPALLSKY 11MAY2011:
Local Astronomers And Media In Perth Australia Pass Off May 10 Morning Fireball Bolide As ISS...Somewhat Substantiable, BUT WRONG.

In Fact, there was a visible ISS (International Space Station) pass over Perth Australia the morning of May 10th, 2011 at 22:05 UTC (06:05 a.m. AWST). Problem is, the fireball/bolide sightings ranged from 05:45 a.m. to 05:51 a.m....15 to 20 minutes BEFORE the ISS was to fly over the Southwestern coastal city, and while the Station was still over the Southern tip of Africa. At least one local astronomer passed it off simply as the ISS, and local media apparently did not bother to check out the huge discrepancy in timing. Below is a series of depictions from Orbitron (satellite tracking software) beginning at 5:45 a.m. and going through 06:05 a.m. showing the location of the ISS at 5 minute intervals. Based on numerous eyewitness reports, ELPALLSKY believes there, in fact, WAS a substantial meteor/bolide event. We are attempting to obtain images of the fireball and will post immediately if/when they are made available. In the graphics below, the time stamp on each is UTC (Greenwich Mean Time) and the date will show as May 9th, 2011. Click on each picture to enlarge.

From Mitch In Perth:
I saw the object coming down from the sky i was about Lederville / West Perth on my push bike heading to work, it was green really bright with a little tail and was losing bits as was going down, direction from south to north, it wasn't for sure the international spaceship, i saw it before and it's nothing like that, plus that object was clearly coming down and clearly really close and inside the atmosphere, i reckon could be landed around Bayswater Dianella suburb area.

UPDATE...07APR2011 Montana Fireball Bolide Captured On Radar...

Radar Data Suggests A Major Bolide Meteorite Fall Over Northern Rockies

by: ELPALLSKY 14APR2011...
Radar expert Dr. Marc Fries concludes that... "Either this event produced one hell of a fall, or we’re looking at debris from a de-orbited satellite."

MT 07 Apr 2011 0917 UTC
This event was, by all accounts, a spectacular fireball that most people missed because it occurred around 3am local time. The small number of eyewitnesses, to include an airline pilot at 38,000′, describe a long-lasting and relatively slow fireball. Two people report that it generated five separate...

UPDATE...NASA Projects Debris Field for 06APR2011 Tennessee Fireball Bolide

NASA Meteoroid Environment Office-Marshall Space Flight Center-Huntsville...has released a map of the projected meteorite debris field/impact zone from the April 6th meteor fireball event over Tennessee.

NASA MEO Director Bill Cooke cautions "bear in mind that we lost track of the meteor fairly high up, before it underwent significant deceleration. Therefore this is a rough estimate only, pinpointing a general  impact area".

NASA emphasizes that "hunters should respect the wishes of the property holders".

Topeka, KS to Emporia, KS
We saw the meteor tonight on our drive from Topeka, KS to Emporia, KS. It was about 9:30pm or so I believe. It was an amazing sight! It was orange and yellow and then turned into a green color. It just looked like a fireball floating through the sky. -Cristina D

Mannford, Ok.
I saw this fireball/meteor tonight.  It was between 9:15-9:30 pm.  I live in Mannford, Oklahoma off of Highway 48 half way between highway 33 and highway 51.  My husband & I were taking our dog outside & we were actually watching a bat fly around our security light catching bugs.  I was looking off to the southwest
& out of NO WHERE this big ball came across the sky.  I was yelling at my husband
to look because I was speechless.  To me, it look close to the size of a basketball & looked
like the headlight of a car.  It was moving fast.  As soon as my husband turned around to see it
it was turning a green color & then was gone.  It kind of had orange sparks coming off of it...
I was amazed & could not believe what I saw.  My husband researched to see if it was just us &
ran across your website.  Hope this helps!!
Sincerely, Janet Blumer - Mannford, Ok.

Oklahoma City, OK
Found your website searching "meteor" oklahoma and the date,
We were driving on northwest expressway, a few miles away from the okc city limits out in the country at about nwexpwy and cimmeron road (where there are few lights and little traffic at night.)
Suddenly there were blue flashes around the car, I was driving and confused for a second as to where it was comming from, I looked out the drivers side window to see if there were a power outage making street lights flash, but then thought "what street lights?".
The girls in the car and I all said "what is that?" at the same time, the flashes were so bright.
As I leaned into the drivers side window to look out; another flash above caught my eye and I realized it was something on fire in the air.
This was the biggest thing Ive ever seen on fire flashing through the sky. I was driving my daughters friend to her house and she was in the seat behind me. So she saw the meteor too, and we both wondered if it might be a plane exploding.
My daughter was in the passenger seat and could only see the flashes, it light up the front glass and the south side glass of the car, plus the entire outside around.
We were driving towards the northwest on the highway, so the flashes were on the south side of the car, to see the meteor, I had to lean to the window and look up a little.
The trail behind the fireball looked like a comet. There were numerous firey peices, large ones that were red, white, and blue/white, in quite a distance behind it, and it lasted longer than any shooting star Ive ever seen.
There should definately be something that fell to the earth somewhere.( If this wasnt a plane or rocket exploding, it missed it's chance) it should at least be one of the biggest meteors around.
If you cant tell, we were a little shaken up, because it looked like something exploding in the sky, and the light of each explosion reaching all the way down to our car was unbelievable, it was a litte unnerving, alone in the dark with just two 15 year old girls, wondering if it might be a missle that was shot at oklahoma City.
We will book mark your page to see if someone turns in a video of this!
Thanks ,- Brenda O'Hern Six

Lavon, Texas
I went outside a bit after 9 in Lavon Texas. I'm not very good with directions but our house faces south I believe. Towards Wylie and Sachse. If I was indeed facing south then the bright white glow moved east to west. (left to right) it was amazing. I have seen meteor showers before living out in Waxahachie on dark nights away from city lights but this was incredible. It was not like any "shooting star" I have ever seen. It was low in the horizon and from my perspective as big as an orange. It was a brilliant white glow with a 4-6 inch tail that coned into a point like the fire discharging from a jet engine. I will probably never see anything like it again in my lifetime (with the exception of possible end of world in 2012 LOL) and am very grateful to have had that wonderful opportunity. -Nic

Dripping Springs, Texas
We saw the green ball of light falling across the sky last night in Dripping Springs, Texas around 9:00ish. Thank you, -Lisa

Rockwall, Texas
I'm unable to attest to color but this meteor was very large and hung in the sky for a significant amount of time. It was as bright as or brighter than the North Star. I witnessed this from just south of Rockwall, Tx with almost zero light pollution at approximately 8:45, March 23, 2011

Lucas, Texas
I saw this last night…it was about 9:15 ish. We were driving on Ingram Lane going North, when I saw a VERY large, VERY bright light to the North West. It actually took me a second to figure out what I was looking at!
This is a rural area and I thought it might have been a helicopter search light or something. But just as I figured out what it was, it faded away. It was bright white with maybe a hint of green. It was about midway above the horizon and traveling north. I told my husband that I bet part of that thing landed somewhere! Hope this information helps and would love to know what you find out about it! Thank-you, -Donna Bradshaw

Fort Worth, Texas
Date of sighting: 03-23-2011. Time of sighting: around 8:30 pm cst
I am located on the west side of fort worth just outside loop 820 and just north of I-30. I was facing northwest and spotted the meteor just for a moment as it was nearing the ground and disappeared from my view behind the houses nearby. I could not judge distance or size although I was struck by the large size and bright green light. I took my compass out this morning and would estimate that it disappeared from view at a bearing of 310 degrees. It appeared to move left to right at a downward angle of approximately 30 degrees. It appeared round in shape with a bright green glow. The tail behind the ball was not long only about four or five times the width. Thanks, -Greg Richardson

35 from Waco to Fort Worth, Texas
I saw it falling from the sky while driving on 35 from Waco to Fort Worth, Texas. It was so dark but maybe in the area of the "skydive"field.East side of the highway.
It was amazing. March 23 ,2011 Time between 8;00 pm and 9:00pm The color was a firey yellow with a little green. At first it looked like fireworks falling down to earth. There was a tail of smaller sparkles as it arched down like an arrow followed the ball.It moved very fast.
I could not get my cell phone camera ready fast enough to photograph since I was driving. -Anon.

Mustang OK...
My son and I saw the fireball last night over our house in Mustang, OK. It started off looking like a shooting star, and I pointed it out to my son. but as it was heading NW to SE it turned from a whiteish green, to a bright orange fireball, and we could hear it crackle as it went overhead. I know this isn't much, but I hope it helps your pursuit.
Craig Boswell...thank you Craig!

Ponca City OK...
Per your web site request, I would like to report I saw the possible meteor Wednesday evening between 9: 20 and 9:30 PM. My location was in Ponca City, OK. located in Kay County, approximately 15 miles east of I-35 and about 20 miles south of the Oklahoma/Kansas border.
It was a bright green orb trailing what appeared to be minuet sparks and a glowing vapor trail. It was seen looking to the west, appearing from behind a tree at about the 10 or 11 o'clock position in the sky. It quickly moved in what appeared to to be a southeast trajectory and was only seen for a few seconds.
Perhaps this will be of some assistance in your research-Al Ritter... very much so! thanks.

Guest917 (guest): I witnessed the meteor last night 7 miles west of Nocona, Texas near the Red River in north Texas. The object moved from the south to the north between 8:30-8:35pm the meteor was low on the horizon west of my location. Hope this helps!

Tom Radle writes...

Observed what looked like a large meteor in the NW sky at approximately 15 to 20 degrees elevation at around 9:15 on March 23.  The meteor had a distinct large “head’ and a small trailing tail that appeared like a sparkler.

Gina Pearson In Godley TX writes...

David In Abilene TX writes...
We live in Abilene, Texas.  I didn't see it, but my wife did.  She was sitting on the porch and saw this Green Fireball come down from the sky at approx. 8:45pm (March 23, 2011).  She said it started about 30 degrees above the horizon looking NNW.  It traveled from West to East (Left to Right) in a downward slope and it lasted about 3-4 seconds.  She said the head was Green and Blue, but mostly Green.  She said the tail was Red and Yellow and looked like fire.  She said that as it fizzled out it looked like a piece broke off from it.
I wished that I had seen it too.  It sounded like it was a beautiful and amazing firework from God.  I hope this report helps to identify where it actually hit.

Susie Floyd writes: Yes! I saw it. Everybody said i was just seeing things so i googled it and found this site.  It was about 9:15 pm wednesday 3/23/2011.  In burleson tx.

--- Denver, Colorado ~9pm MDT (different meteor event)
Saw a very bright meteor heading east toward yale and I-25 around 9pm not sure what time it was exactly. First time I seen one that was not overhead. Very bright just above the horizon. Couldn’t tell you how big it was Looked maybe from that distance size of a compact car or half the size of one Looked like it was going to strike within Colorado far east

If anyone else saw this meteor event please email. We need the time, the location (town) you were when you saw it, the start and end locations in the sky and the direction of travel of the meteor; thank you!
