Brief Eyewitness Account From:
Daniel D.-El Paso, TX:
Wow!, the most awesome meteor I've seen! Long-lasting, low on the horizon, a brilliant flash, and a neon-green trail!   Initial Report! Thank you Daniel!

Additional Reports via Email:
Toni C.-Timberon, NM:
Saw a large fireball falling to the south of me at 11:05 MDT.  It appeared
to be near El Paso. Looked red & yellow, like real fire, to me, but I was in such disbelief, it’s hard to tell if I remembered correctly! My initial reaction was that a plane exploded, since it appeared to be ‘heading’ toward ELP. Scared the wits out of me! Confirmation report! Thanks Toni!

NASA Fireball Cameras Capture Possible Major Fireball Bolide Over Atlanta GA At 03:58:11 a.m. EDT 28AUG2011

Email From:
Dr. Bill Cooke-NASA-MSFC-Huntsville, AL:

Initial speed: 23.6 km/s (52,800 mph)

End location:  84.109 W, 33.524 N, Altitude 41.3 km (25.7 miles)
Too bright for camera in Cartersville to accurately determine center of light - manual analysis will be required for more accurate end point.

UPDATE...07APR2011 Montana Fireball Bolide Captured On Radar...

Radar Data Suggests A Major Bolide Meteorite Fall Over Northern Rockies

by: ELPALLSKY 14APR2011...
Radar expert Dr. Marc Fries concludes that... "Either this event produced one hell of a fall, or we’re looking at debris from a de-orbited satellite."

MT 07 Apr 2011 0917 UTC
This event was, by all accounts, a spectacular fireball that most people missed because it occurred around 3am local time. The small number of eyewitnesses, to include an airline pilot at 38,000′, describe a long-lasting and relatively slow fireball. Two people report that it generated five separate...
